Zain Miller died as a broken man. Once a valiant rebel fighting against the ruthless colonial government, he lost everything—his friends, his family, and his dignity—when fear drove him to flee the battlefield. Branded a coward, he spent the rest of his life in shame, only to die alone and forgotten.

But death was not the end.

Reborn into a brutal fantasy world where humans are mere prey for monstrous beings like vampires, werewolves, and dragons, Zain is given a second chance. This world is ruled by Aether, a mysterious and corrupting energy that fuels both unimaginable power and unspeakable horrors.

Guided by a enigmatic benefactor who claims to know his past, Zain must navigate this treacherous new reality. Who is this mysterious man, and why did he choose Zain? What does he mean when he says, *“This is the legend of a coward becoming a brave warrior”*?

As Zain struggles to survive in a world where every step could be his last, he must confront the ghosts of his past and the weight of his failures. Can he rise above his cowardice, reclaim his honor, and forge a new legacy in a land where survival is the ultimate test of courage?

What you will find in this novel, dear reader? A story of a soul that stayed for a long time in the darkness and is transmigrated to another world with a simple job: protect someone. Maybe the fate of the world will be decided if he suceeeds or not.

Pros: A fairly good system that does not take away from the story, No power creep, simple cultivation realms, MC doesn’t come from weakest city of weakest country of weakest region in the most desolate world, no “upper realm”, other characters are actually strong and talented, MC grows and learns throughout the story, a simple yet intricate power system, no faceslap, MC is not freakishly talented or overbearing, uses unorthodox powers, no harem or collecting trophy wives, scheming and scamming MC, not too many random techniques, no bs power ups, every ability we see is eventually explained and part of a character skill set, a lot of mystery, characters have a purpose and revelancy after hundreds of chapters.Cons: Abyss Island arc lasts about 1000 chapters, even disregarding Dongwantian City. Mc sometimes acts brainless. First arc is tournament and dragged out. Bazhunan is an ever moving goalpost who seems to inexplicably be Holy Emperor level (peak of current known cultivation levels) If you can stomach the first 200 chapters, I would read it.

Really good novel. I love the flow. You could also see some of LOTM vibes in parts of the story. The fights are awesome, written really well. I should mention even though you get the vibes you do get other original aspects as well. However, it's a system novel at the end of the day so it will be used as a crutch imo. Otherwise why even have the thing.

It's good and all, especially the early chapters but once you hit when he returns it's just so bad, like it's fine but I just hate how they make the whole love interest thing. I don't get why he needs this love interest so much. Can't the man just be alone bruh. Like I get that you want to add a female lead and all but you don't got to, that was the appeal of this whole novel to me. Is that this crazy dude goes on a eternal rampage unable to connect to the world due to being well a walking disaster. Anyways I've dropped it for now at least, might pick it up again and if I do I might change my review but I'm just leaving it like this.

An undeniable gem in the book universe.  I appreciate how the author is taking the time to go in depth with each of the characters... some tend to focus mainly on the protagonist, but this story is very well formulated, well thought out, and gives readers the edge they need so they can relate intimately with the characters and develop relationships with them. Loving it. I'm also a sucker for fantastical and mysterious plots, so this is a winner for me! Great work.

review from chapter 88. story so far has just been meh. It really is a nice read but bland. I feel as though the Mc is a Gary stu. most females easily fall for him. gets married out of nowhere easily. Mc constantly keeps having things go his way. He is op for his level. fighting above his level constantly. So if you really like op Gary stu Mc read this. I'm not trying to be mean as well. It is just the way I see it. which has made me drop it. Since I just find to boring at this point.
