The story setting is really fun but it's a typical novel of this type. The MC doesn't have to put in any effort to learn to create cards, just automatically being able to 'tell' the best way to make them. And, of course, recipe's come just as naturally to him as breathing. No build-up or effort means no satisfaction from the result, which means you might as well remove the crafting part of the setting and just make it action.Character's don't act like people, and they don't interact like people. Conversations are stilted and unnatural with a lot of author self-inserts that cause the conversations to jump from one point to another. The way they communicate is really hard to stomach. It gives me second-hand embarrassment. It just makes it impossible to be engaged with the story. It's unfortunate. I love crafting stories. But this isn't a crafting story. If the author reads this, this would be a good story if you made the crafting something the MC worked towards consistently over the story's timeline and you improved the way characters interact and communicate. Those are the two points that are really dragging the story down.0 0 Reply

If your looking for a good romance and don't have a problem with the girl being the lead in the relationship I would definitely recommend it. This book quickly got me hooked, I have not noticed any errors in the writing and the character development is amazing. I am currently on ch 45 and my only comment is I hope that the author doesn't get so caught up in Sam's character growth they forget about Lena(this has not been a problem so far)0 0 Reply

Review written after reading up to the last chapter as of posting (chapter 149).Honestly this is the best piece of writing I've ever read, the review will be divided into parts. 1.Josh2.Other characters3.The world4.Story 1. Josh both caries along the whole story and also just feels like a viewpoint for the rest of the world. He manages to be funny in a very human way rather than just saying "he told a joke and they laughed". He has depth and background as a person but also has more aspects to him, he can be realistically funny, sad, happy, desperate, and even clueless. Do you know how hard it is to write a clueless character that doesn't make you cringe? I have never seen a more human feeling character that still has unrealistic strength and perseverance. 2. The side character all have real personality, real devotion and reasoning. They complement Josh just as much as thy do the story or world-building. They create a place, community, and group that doesn't just feel like an excuse to leave the tower. The author never creates a scenario or relationship just to throw it away and forget about it. It truly feels like they're a society with groups and levels rather than just MC, MC friends, MC enemies, everyone else. Which is what a lot of novels tend to create. 3. The world is less of an aspect than you might expect from what I've already said. The world in the novel is defined less by easy or literal descriptions and more by the characters and relationships. It doesn't matter where exactly the cities are, where exactly the tower is, where he even lives. You learn about the general world, technologically advanced human world that had a tower show up randomly, but then the characters teach you about the rest. I don't know where districts of the city are, but I know how the characters feel about the areas and what the place feels like instead of what it looks like. 4. The story is simple, it isn't meant to be about the mystery of the towers or the other worlds, it isn't about Josh's struggle to survive. It's about Josh, just Josh. It's about understanding him, how he proves he can do this, how he thinks in an unorthodox way and influences the people around him. It's the story of Josh Malum and his adventures, both personal (climbing the tower, finding something other than his girlfriend to care about) and public (teaching people, changing the tower, gaining attention, helping his friends). I don't think I can do it justice trying to condense it down into this tiny little review, but I 100% recommend reading this.0 0 Reply

This is awful. I went in with thinking it would be bad and it was way worse. I keep finding myself skipping more and more of the story. I have never done that before. Entire chapters that all just feel like garbage filler.0 0 Reply

At first when I started reading the novel, I liked it. But slowly as time passed, I started finding reading the novel a chore. There's too much information going on with every single side plot or history being explained with a chapter. A whole chapter is based on a few enemies escaping from the good guys. There's too much info that it's frying my brain. Every chapter, something or the other is described and half the chapter is wasted with little to no plot progress. There's multiple back to back chapters wasted on the MC just talking and having fun with his friends when the main plotline is going on in the background with the side characters. After this, another few chapters with what the side characters did. The first few chapter is called "last week as a judge" or something, but the first day of the week ends only after chapter 80 or something. Every case the MC takes on is explained with a few dozen chapters. Till now there is no idea what the MC is gonna do. There is nothing to suggest what the future holds. Just taking cases and lazing around. I couldn't read it after chapter 80 or something because it's too boring without a proper plot progress. The chapters are long, which I like, but there's little progress in each chapter with the rest being info dumps. So by now, I've read around 80-90 chapters and nothing has happened. And the MC just seems too bland for me. He's the absolutely shameless type with no trace of dignity or pride. This just beats the essence of a cultivation novel. The writing is good. The world background is well explained. Too detailed if you ask me, which just takes away the beauty of the novel. As always, the MC friends are all the weirdos, and the weirdo friend group always turns out to be the OP group, just like in black clover. Overused trope. And as I said, the story development is too slow. Snails pace with too much info dumping in each chapter. My opinion is that if you're a patient person, give it a read. It's a good novel with good writing, but not my cup of tea. Perhaps after chapter 100 or 150 it'll get better. It's obvious that the author has taken immense effort to write it, and props to him. It's visible to everyone. Good work on the novel author. I'm sorry but it's just not for me. I wish you success.0 0 Reply
