The eldritch atmosphere left Saiph painfully anxious, ready to jump at a moment's notice. There was still no sign of any wolves lurking in the periphery, but that was only to be expected. The earlier howls could have easily been a distraction or intimidation tactic to cause the trio to flee from their relatively safe clearing and into the now-dark recesses of the forest.
On the other hand, Yuriko saw the fight with complete tranquility as if she already knew the result, Saya saw the duel nervous while clinging to her mother's arm, Yoshioka eventually stood beside them.
This was a strange creature which looked like a big ape. It had to weigh at least sixty or seventy kilograms, and its head was three times larger than that of a normal human being's. It had a big nose and a big mouth that stretched all the way back to its ears, seeming to split its head in half when it snarled. Its mouth was filled with sharp, shark-like teeth; there had to be at least three or four rows of teeth! It could probably bite through metal armor without any problems at all. Flesh and bone was even less of an issue!
"What is it Shirou? Bored of the company of two pretty girls and want to change with me for the buffy old man and a fat weirdo that doesn't talk?" Finral said, clearly not afraid of the fact that Yami could probably hear his words despite the distance. The man had great ears when he wanted to and I bet Finral will get what is coming to him for having said that.
"Weapon Creation Magic: Great Rose Whip Mimosa!" As I said that I took out of the grimoire, a whip made of a big vine with a rose on the hilt, along with several thorns covering the whole weapon. I never wielded such a weapon before as it had no relations to swords, but for some reason wielding it was quite easy. I felt like I could control it almost instinctively and any thoughts I had allow me to move the weapon as I wanted.
Mike George was a low time seller of flesh. With a height of five feet, he was of average size in this city with blond hair that reached his shoulders that he keeps tied up at all times to keep his hair out of his brown eyes.
After a moment, he shrugged and continued toward the trial grounds. He could hear the drums of the ceremony and the dull, distant and discordant hum of ten thousand conversations all overlapping each other. The trial grounds were a kilometer in diameter, with another kilometer-diameter worth of hand-cut stone seating. As he reached the entrance to head underneath the arena where the trial hopefuls were to gather, he caught a glimpse of the shimmering Thompson dome, the shaped force field that protected the spectators from the raw power released during the trial. He swallowed hard and headed into the dark tunnel.
This is the first novel of this genre that I have ever read, and this actually made me interested in the storyline of this novel. Overall, I think this novel is good. Keep it up! Good Luck!
personally don't like it. too stupid characters. too stupid decision making. unnecessary sacrifice. confusing worldview (maybe because i stopped reading too early). boring plot progression. maybe the plot would improve later and a good read for others who have enough patience to endure it. but not for me.
