Trapped Between Kings

"She adores you," they both exclaimed in unison, their voices intertwining. Following that statement, an awkward silence fell, as each of them pondered the delicate topic at hand. He held onto the hope of keeping her, yet he couldn't ignore the subtle hints she gave, indicating her attraction to his rival - though maybe she wasn't fully aware herself. The way she engaged with him, the rise in her voice, the playful flutter of her eyelashes when he charmed her, all spoke volumes. Deep down, he yearned for her love exclusively, but concurrently, he wished for her genuine happiness. Without her confiding in them, he remained uncertain about who could bring her the joy she deserved. Undoubtedly, he prayed it would be him. Yet, there was a tiny part of him that, if pushed to choose, would accept her choice... even if it were for someone else.
