My Love

When I was just eighteen, my partner and I made a heartfelt vow that if we didn't find love elsewhere, we'd spend our lives together. Back then, we were young, innocent, and deeply in love, though I might have been more naive than he was. We were unaware of the complexities of life, love, and ourselves as we made that promise, which, unfortunately, would be tested. After two years of dating, we went our separate ways, but looking back, I don't think either of us truly grieved. It's been over half a decade since I last spoke to him or caught a glimpse of him. Now, I'm approaching twenty-five, and I'm engaged to someone who has captured my heart. It's not the person I once pledged my vows to, and that's okay because life has taken us on different paths. Sometimes, promises made in youth give way to the wisdom and experiences that shape us into who we are today.
