Lovers or Friends

Tina, Avni's voice trembled as she pleaded, "I can't return your lost child, but perhaps you should take mine instead. Please, accept him into your life," she choked out. Initially, Tina was stunned by Avni's words, but the sound of newborns crying brought her back to reality. "No, Avni, I can't. They belong to you and Hercules. My baby's death might be a sign that we were never meant to be together," Tina replied, her heart heavy with grief. Avni's tears flowed freely, "Please understand, Tina. He never loved me the way he did you, but you could give him the love he deserves. You have a special connection with Hercules," she begged. "Tina, I've spoken to Hercules about you. It'll be hard at first, but love will grow between you. He'll accept you, I'm sure," Tina tried to reassure, hoping to ease her friend's pain. Avni laughed bitterly, "Love isn't something we can force. It comes naturally. I can't make Hercules love me," she confessed. "But what about your baby? How will you live without him?" Tina asked, her frustration mounting. "I'll focus on my daughter. Now, she's your responsibility too. Give her all your love, you'll be a wonderful mother," Avni declared, handing over the baby boy. As soon as the child felt the absence of his mother, he let out a loud cry. "He's crying for his mother," Tina observed. Anjali offered a faint smile, "From now on, you're his mother. I am no longer a part of his life," she said softly, leaving with her daughter in tow.
