Then Dolius put out both his hands and went up to Ulysses. "Sir," said he, seizing his master's hand and kissing it at the wrist, "we have long been wishing you home: and now heaven has restored you to us after we had given up hoping. All hail, therefore, and may the gods prosper you. But tell me, does Penelope already know of your return, or shall we send some one to tell her?"
"What have you done, unfortunate man?" inquired Werther, as he advanced toward the prisoner. The latter turned his eyes upon him in silence, and then replied with perfect composure; "No one will now marry her, and she will marry no one." The prisoner was taken into the inn, and Werther left the place. The mind of Werther was fearfully excited by this shocking occurrence. He ceased, however, to be oppressed by his usual feeling of melancholy, moroseness, and indifference to everything that passed around him. He entertained a strong degree of pity for the prisoner, and was seized with an indescribable anxiety to save him from his impending fate. He considered him so unfortunate, he deemed his crime so excusable, and thought his own condition so nearly similar, that he felt convinced he could make every one else view the matter in the light in which he saw it himself. He now became anxious to undertake his defence, and commenced composing an eloquent speech for the occasion; and, on his way to the hunting-lodge, he could not refrain from speaking aloud the statement which he resolved to make to the judge.
With just the 13 free chapters available, it's extremely evident chatGPT did a lot of the heavy lifting while writing this novel. The concept is very interesting, and the first few chapters are by far the best simply because it's not extremely evident that it was made using AI or with help from it, but after the initial introduction, roughly around chapter 6, its just a slog of AI generated topics with a few changes made here and there by the author so it would fit the story, before changing into an AI generated exchange between characters. It wouldn't be an issue using AI if the chapters were at the very least engaging to read, but the amount of repetition and useless back and forth, combined with the massive amounts of flavor text that is simply there to increase wordcount, just really kills it.I'm not reading past the free chapters, and I can't really recommend it either, unless you don't mind the AI. if anyone decides to do it: beware of heavy text dumps and poorly explained exposition.
