You know what a shut in is, right? Those fat geeks who never go outside, order everything they need and/or want online, typically work as some sort of programmer or website designer to pay the bills; if they're not still living with their mom that is. Yeah. Them.
Well, this is the story about one of those shut ins. He doesn't conform to the stereotype: but then again, who does these days? He's eighteen, and works as a professional website designer, at least on paper. He dropped out of school during his Junior year at 16 years old, having skipped a grade, and has been holed up in his apartment – granted, a shockingly nice one – for over two years. The reason? Well, you'll have to read to find out.
There's just one thing that sets him apart from all, or at least most, other shut-ins; he lives with an incredibly complex AI system that can materialize as a young girl named Terra in the real world, with the help of self-installed 3D sensors of course. Everything about her is extremely human, ranging from her attitude to her likes and dislikes. Of course, she can't eat anything: that'd just be ridiculous. Neither Seth nor Terra know how they happened to be acquainted with each other, only that one day *bloop* there she was. And to be honest, it doesn't really bother them that much.
Until they receive a call.
