CHAINED is told from the dual first person perspective of Cassidy - a young girl being raised by her adoptive family, and Lahan - a warrior-in-training. They live on opposite sides of the Broken Sea, in a world still suffering from a war that happened hundreds of years ago. A war fought by Doyen, the users of vim.
To end the war, the Eight Saints created a strong chant, one to harness the amount of vim a Doyen could use, hoping it would prevent another war from ever happening again. But it backfired. The chant broke the world, moving entire countries to new locations and creating the Broken Sea.
And, it created a monster. A so-far unbeatable, human-turned-demigod monster, Anwir.
The Eight vowed to kill it, no matter the cost, and have followed the creature through hundreds of years, using chants to be reborn again and again, waiting for their chance.
But every chant has a cost.
And this time, when Aadhya and Raiden awake, they have no idea who they are.
How can they save the world, if they can't even remember their names?
