So we might see very interesting abilities in the future.

Loid really hates the way he has to use Anya to acomplish his mission but at the same time he has no choice.

It was already established that veteran adventurer would not take essence willy nilly since the cost for removing is too large. Newbie on the other hand would grab on essence without a second thought. This was established when Bjorn is trying to ripoff the blond mage girl and get the ring for Misha. I always hated it when the MC do something and the reason for it to be logical is from their past lives, or they just know it from reading (looking at you omniscient reader). Thankfully this wasn't the case.
