Honestly I though MC ended up becoming a dark magician in the first run because he was a manipulative prick that knew the wrong people and just take the best possible route for him... But oh man, he actually had reasons to held a grudge, I think the death of his comrade by the treason of the empire is just one of things that pushed him to turn his back on humanity.

if they defeat no 9 then they have to get rid of all the fucking kaiju eventually and theres obviously going to be stronger ones than no 9 and kafka aint doing shit
unless if the author kills off kafka and the kaiju win (probably has not happened in any shounen manga to my knowledge) then theres nowhere the story can possibly go

Meanwhile there are authors who spend 139 chapters and 10 years just to achieve a bullshit ending.
