The main couple has no actual reason not to just get together so the "difficulties" of their relationship are just obnoxious to read. I feel dumber for having consumed so much of the story. Maybe the translation is bad, not grammatically, but semantically because the emotional journey they go through just makes no sense. It isn't tragic, just frustrating and dumb.
The MC is pretty dumb in general in the way she comports herself.
Reviewed @ch105 (season 3)
So this series has a decent enough foundation. There's 3 knight orders, she used to be part of the less moral/more 'always follow orders' one that only answered to the Emperor, now she's joined the one that helps people more.
One big area that this series falls short is the early romance. It feels way too rushed, mostly from the male lead's side, as he just falls in love at first sight but not in a way that feels believable enough.
Also the personality of the female lead feels like it changed waaaay too quickly. She spent so many years living with a mercenary mentality, throwing away her morals, and within a couple months of going back in time her personality felt like it shifted way too fast.
The antagonists are kinda insane, though their backstories, when they fiiinally reveal enough of it, are decent enough.
There's a few too many instances of people holding the idiot ball, too. Waay too many ocassions where the mc should divulge her secret to make things go smoother or safeguard from risks, or when people should be finding ways to report to the king what's happening and stuff like that.
But all that said, the series is decent enough. Has good fight scenes, too. Some pretty great side characters (like the two princesses). Though some other side characters, like the male friends, are pretty weak imo.
I feel comfortable giving this a '7' for 'good'
Good tridimensional characters, the leads and the secondary have they flaws and unique personalities, the story of the world is actually interesting and flowing with a good pace unlikely most of the regress storys wich usually are just cliche background for the maincouple, the romance is more of a bonus so far and i want it to still like this, the plot keeps moving and some fan service here and there for us romance lovers, still a lot of things to be resolved so im hoping the pace doesnt change.
A Second chance to live and grow as a character wasted by the series devolving into an absurd misunderstanding comedy a couple of dense fools.
Second chance, character growth, future knowledge opportunities, corrected relationships.
All that gets interrupted by a truly annoying bickering by dense, foolish, borderline moronic ML and the misunderstandings of a just now emotionally maturing FL.
A clearly shown unstoppable, unpunished, arrogant villain doesn't help to tolerate it either...
I'm really loving the energy of this one. Really excited for more chapters!
Just removed 1 points because Giryu/male lead is a d*mbas$ and when he was given an opportunity [not gonna say which chapter], he said super generalized words and can be interpreted to mean that he didn't like her like that. DANG IT. YOU GOTTA BE DIRECT WHEN IT COMES TO THESE THINGS.
Update #1 @ ch. 86:
I actually really like this one now and always look forward to the next chapter. Romance is really cute and the plot also keeps moving forward.
Original review probably up to chapter 40 or something:
The art is really pretty, and the story is a good one where the female lead is determined to do a 180 in her second life and live by doing the right thing and protecting her friends. The male lead is moral, courageous, and courteous, and his feelings toward the female lead are cute. The plot is also interesting, with the female lead trying to prevent the tragedies that occurred in her first life. Between the political conflict and the bad guy intrigue, there's lots to anticipate.
To be honest there isn't anything bad to say about this manga, but I'm not as excited about a new chapter coming out as I am with some other series. I think it's just due to the story not having an area it's really strong in. Like, it's not super funny, it's not super cute, it's not super romantic... it's a good story all around but I'm still just a bit lukewarm about it.
Yea, one of the characters wears a black dress in combat that looks like one of those dresses from Victorian times, lets forget that this garment would literally be one of the worst options for movement and efficacy, but it's just so stupid, she is in an academy where they train soldiers and you expect me to believe that she was allowed to wear that garb while in training, no!. the story seems fairly good but if this manga is going to deliver eye pocking things like this throughout i'm not reading on.
It would be fine if the manga was a comedy but it's not, it's a drama with a serious theme but for some reason they want me to believe this would happen even in a fantasy world this stands out as moronic.
UPDATE: Ok, so i've pressed on past the dress debacle, the character dosnt seem to be present in more than 1 or 2 chapters so far, the story is good and it's enough to keep me reading, although there are still a few continuity problems i've seen so.
Ok, so the continuity problems i mentioned are small but annoying because it shows the author or artist (not sure if it's the same person) is either not thinking to hard about the world they're making or is just lazy and don't want to change characters appearances. So the main annoyance i've seen since the dress debacle is in chapter 11 is that even when they're running outside training hard they still wear their Official uniforms, these are kind of expensive so using them to train is a big no no, they're only for appearances and official business. If you've ever seen an officer in their clean cut uniform at a ceremony in real life, it would be hard to imagine them ruining this uniform by using it while training, it just simply does not happen. It's like saying "i'm going jogging" and putting on a black blazer.
