However, I'm on chapter 142 and for the past 5 or so chapters EVERY time someone is about to reveal something they get interrupted. Always.
I think this happened a lot and much earlier too but I was able to ignore it. Not anymore.
This is getting incredibly irritating. They're deliberately stringing this out. Information is dribbling in at the pace of molasses at the arctic pole. So painfully slow and nonsensical that my chest is starting to feel congested and stuffy. Absolutely frustrating.
I'm glad I ignored the many negative comments because I am really enjoying this one. I'm already rereading it. And have started the LN. There are a couple strange plot points in the beginning but overlooking that I really love this story. It gives me the same enjoyment that i got from SL the first time I read it.
The author had an interesting premise and the MC having to rely on his encyclopedic knowledge of the beginner stages to survive felt very relatable. However, the author really wanted to solve the mysteries for the readers quickly and things get super boring pretty quickly from there (especially since the answers feel a bit like a bait and switch). If the protagonist had some compelling character arc, it probably would have been acceptable, though still disappointing. As it is, 22 chapters feels like the limit of my patience for this one...
40 chapters in and I still have no idea what is an ego, which at is point just simply iritating. There are gates and the tower doesn't really give a full (or any) explaination like why it exist,how tall is it, what happen when you clear it, can you even clear it? So you just have to go and try to figure out based on other manhwas in the genre what could be the rules of this world. The MC only characteristic is that he lucky and know peolpe in good places. He's not powerful becuse his persistent or smart, simply becuse he was at the right place at the right time. His weapons uprage really fast but still only becuse he is lucky. At this point the plot is only that I waiting for the next coinsedence to happen which will give the MC his next power up.
So i started off kinda enjoying this (ala Junk Food). Not really great, but not bad. Except then the MC started being characterized as an absolute moron. There were a few jokes early on that implied he wasn't the smartest, but it wasn't like he was dumb. Then he started to make stupid decision after stupid decision.
One of his talking swords served as the worldbuilding explanation often, which is fine. But then they started taking it further and further with the MC literally understanding NOTHING, his denseness shot through the roof, and literally every part of his character became Flanderized with ONLY his combat instincts remaining positive. The sad part is that I can't really blame the MC for this, because it's clearly due to the author making it go downhill. Unlike being able to just dislike a moron protagonist (like classic shounen MCs, think like Natsu or Luffy), he clearly was a decent one at first, and then the author went out of their way to make him a moron.
This is a good novel if it was executed perfectly. But the author will just throw things at you again and again. Which makes things from 0 to a 100 without explaining what the heck is going on
