Honestly a great series, and most importantly it managed to no overstay its welcome with sudden (hidden mastermind etc)

So Japan has a lot of problems. One of those are NEET's. A problem stemming from a culture and sense of responsibility that is simply outdated.
But a lot of mangaka are trying to change the way that people look at NEET's. Most aren't just lazy bastards, most are just very unlucky in how they've became what they are.
Like our protagonist. A great dude at heart, but a flawed human being like everyone else.
And what's great about this gem of a manga is that it's deeply rooted in psychology.
One of the best ways to get out or cope with a deep seated depression is to help other people. And that's what this game is. It's a simulation which shows that it is possible to help people only through great advise and love.
I could write a lot more, but please experience this story for yourself.

I don't think the ending was that rushed honestly, I just don't think that there was ever a super interesting ending planned out for this series. I think the second arc came with the intention of setting up a scenario that felt more like a finale when it was over. The first arc essentially had the end point of "When the character no longer has any more troubles that would come their way" which means that any ending would have just felt like cutting before the next issue happened. The second arc sets up a defined problem and goal that is achieved over the course of just under half of the total series length that it resolves roundly.

8/10 for a manga that is was released on 1997 this was way better than expected
