Supreme Zerg Lord: The Catastrophe

The premise isn't original at all! What are these people on😕 This is laughably cliche, with straight up copyright issues so much that I'm pretty sure this was originally a fanfiction. How did this possibly pass far enough to even get a studio to draw it? baffling.

The art is pretty good, nothing super amazing, but given how the standard has risen, about average tbh. Good enough for sure. That being said, the MC, again, looks like yet another Solo Leveling clone. I get that it's all the rage these days, and it's considered 'attractive', but when 99% of Manhwa hunter-type protagonists look the same, it gets old REAL fast.

The power set though.... like... I guess it's inventive? Maybe? Except it's pure copy-paste. The entire premise is lifted straight from StarCraft, and the designs don't really stray from it at all. The only real change is the Queen-of-Blades lookalike is now a big breasted loli (ish) type character. So yes, the ability to control a queen and then have a ton of 'insect' minions might possibly be rare, it's sure as hell not new. The MC's powers are ridiculously OP, and he's given stupid amounts of benefits, and his personality is completely generic to hunter manhwas.

Honestly if the art was bad (it's not) this would be panned universally. The plot is nonexistent, the characters are beyond paper thin (only the MC has more than a name and a face), the power system is straight out plagiarism, and the entire set up is pure tropes.

Soooo bad. Skip it. Or maybe read the first few chapters and join in feeling aghast at how plagiarized it is.

Plus, the name for hunters is called 'Job Switchers'. WHAT. JOB SWITCHERS??! are you joking me....

Update/edit: Just realized the first chapter is almost an exact play-by-play copy of The Lone Necromancer's first chapter. Agree whole-heartedly with Gottesurteil's comment. If you want to read some badass insect fighting action, check out Insector.

His power is basically replacing summoning the dead with summoning insects.

I love the art. Pretty good for a manhua, and about average if it were a manhwa.

So far, the fact he was reincarnated and remembers his past life has not been important to the story.

Same tired tropes so far:

• society values strength and combat ability
• folks with non-combat affinities are looked down upon systematically (big eye rolls from me for that)
• peers will flip-flop their opinions at a seconds notice based on rumor or perceived value
• subservient, busty female followers
• he has a badass giant insect summon, but she takes on a sensual, sexy female form that only has the naughty bits covered and has loli tendencies (Major fail there. Coulda taken inspo from SL with Beru)
• really tho the fan service is so blatant that it interferes with the scene.
• The first few adversaries have been the usual arrogant type that underestimate MC and need to feed their Big Ego. Laaaaaameeee
• Battle royale style "test" of talent. I HATE this particular setup. It's such a stupid way to test peoples's abilities, so the only purpose is to shoe-in some "high stakes" action in the laziest way possible.

His power is interesting with how it fits into the lore of this world. The whole aliens thing remind me of the buggers from Ender's Game.

I'm concerned it might turn into harem as there's already 3 females in his group, although I got a kinda shojo-ai vibe between 2 of them. We'll see.

I'm actually not really sure what the plot is supposed to be other than just following along with his life as he follows the insect system guidance. The storytelling is weak and uninspired in that regard.

I like that MC seems to have a good temper so far and thinks about things before acting. He knows his own value and is very secure. I appreciate that so much. However, there's nothing particularly unique about him.

Despite the annoying tropes that manhua can't seem to shake off, I'm still going to give this a few more chapters. It's getting more and more generic with a quickness.

BUT the unabashed plagiarism is absolutely undeniable.

Read up to Ch 9. from Rizz Comics' translations (current release)
Good art, very interesting premise... definitely a fresh take on the well-tried trope of monster dungeons opening up on earth and people getting special skills.

The story moves at a good pace with interesting characters being developed quickly.
The MC is meaningfully cautious and has a clear backstory that is hinted at, but not fully given away at the start.

I'm looking forward to seeing this develop!
