I adore this so much! I love how there is no drama about how the mc and the ml may or may not work out its all about how the mc is fitting into life in an isekai and how kind the ml is to her and she actually saves him more than he saves her and I love that so much! I cannot wait for more of this!
Not really for me, which was heartbreaking since it has all the makings of a story that I would love: underdog FMC who is hardworking and compassionate, but still has a lot room for improvement of herself and her role in the new world she has found herself in. She has ultra saintess superpowers and all that jazz, but the tone of the story fails to satisfy my zoomer brain. An example: in chapter 16(?) it is revealed that the girl the mc was summoned with is practically imprisoned by the prince who took responsibility for her. So where does this extremely juicy plot point go? Straight to the trash, instead we're just going to talk of medicinal herbs. Yes, literally the next chapter after that bomb is entirely about herbs.
The story's extreme dedication to its SoL identity causes frustration and boredom when considering the fact that literally anything else about the world would be more interesting than what is being presented at most points of the story. The first 10 or so chapters of the MC figuring out potions and succeeding amazingly had a good pace and were overall very satisfying, but its only so long that you can keep the balance of apparent "omnipotence" and studying HERBS before it gets stale as all hell.
and when I say "studying herbs" I mean it. the mangaka can and will, at a moments notice, drop pages of text about the world's make believe sciences, whether it be botany or magic or whatever. Like I said, definitely not for me.
also it's worth mentioning that the romance of this story is as hollow as the rest of the story. blushing and kind words, and NOTHING more than that, are not the makings of a compelling romance. Then proceeding to stretch out this bare minimum of a "romance" does not help out at all either. Maybe this is a side effect of Reiwa, but Ive found my tolerance for this type of stuff lacking recently.
Just another cliche where the romance is anything but good and the characters just as bad. it’s not the that they are good people just they all have the same personality interact with the mc in the same way. on top of that there are only 3 female characters who barley interact and only talked to each other about a man. every. single. conversation. overall didn’t pass the Bechdel test and didn’t have that much of a compelling story.
