Although the female leads moral compass is kind of defunct, I think that is natural. If she was always good & never did anything bad then that will be just the author giving us a false fairytale. I wouldn't believe it.

She's not just surviving in Agriche, she has power & standing. Plus the start she saves the male lead & purposely tries to gain his trust because she wants to survive not because she was a good person.

At first I was like okay she's only doing what she has to in order to survive in her family... gruesome stuff, but again nothing more than what has to be done. Then she does stuff she didn't have to do and it's clear she's actually evil too. It's not that unexpected when she's grown up in such an environment, but at this point I'm not that interested in how she and the male lead get together 'cause I can't imagine it happening other than her corrupting the male lead or it being some type of Stockholm Syndrome thing.

In summary, at first she seems like a person with good morals that's just acting like one with no morals. Then the story starts switching to her being someone with little moral and it's more like she's only influenced by the pure ML. She'll be kind and then she'll be cruel, so maybe it's purposely inconsistent. In the end she's living with a family of psychos and fitting in with them, so what can I say.

The art is good and the characters are interesting and that's what keeps the story going. The plot is barely there and so far there's no overarching plot that I see either.

By far one of my favourite visual stories across all platforms so far. The artwork is absolutely stunning giving you a gothic vibe that haunts my soul. Very along the same wavelength as Kuroshitsuji with the dark, gory and tragic storyline all laid out via magnificent artwork that captivates niche readers like myself.

    Art 10/10
    Plot 7/10 (for isekai)
    Plot Execution 5/10

There is a lot to unpack for this rating. Let's start with these two remarks. 1) I enjoyed the series enough to finish the first season. 2) I would not recommend it; its an edgy isekai.

This story is a 2021 isekai. The isekai genre has been revived for the general public and it follows some distinct typical traits for this era (I'm not listing the traits at this moment). This particular story takes a darker conception of those traits, and hopes the audience will like it.

Now from reading the summary, I hope you understand some regular person gets transmigrated to a story where her story family plays the evil role of the same story. (wordy, huh.) This would be fine by itself, but it is a little improbable. This transmigrated lead has to play the biggest baddest villian. Could you easily accept changing your cultural preception about murder, torture, and unjust imprisionment? In a second or a couple days? And then act on it to be top dog?

The answer is "no". But, because the female lead can do this, the audience is hooked on this edgier tale of overused tropes.

However, as the story moves on, additional darkier elements are dropped in, and our female lead has no visceral moral reaction to them. Our female lead can just make rational judgements with, as she puts them, these additional annoyances. These additional elements are: child torture, incest, extremity, & etc. (Go look at other reviews to see more of the other edgy/dark elements).

At this point, each additional darkier element doesn't deepen the tone of the story, the story just gets more edgy and distastful.

First off the art is some of the best ive seen so its very easy to want to continue reading it if for no other reason then to continue being able to see the art. The story is very exciting. I get thriller vibes. Ever single chapter im anxious for the next wondering how the story will unfold. I love the intrigue. I love mangas surrounding crime familys and this gives a similar vibe but cranks up the intensity a notch; and honestly its very welcome. Im very tired of low risk predictable isekais. Im excited to see how the romance aspect of the story will unfold. I guess to sum it up im just excited about this story in general and looking forward to seeing how it unfolds

Too heavy (incest, cruel killing, extreme measures on everything), but aesthetics are on point.

Feels gimmicky. Interesting in the beginning but gets stale afterwards. Tired of seeing the FL putting on an act. Also very cringe to see her facial expressions while pretending to be a villain. Not sure how this series can remain interesting now that the initial gimmick is gone.

This is ridiculous. I really enjoy dark and tragic stuff, but here it seems like the author tries to make the story edgy for the sake of it without any real purpose. And it’s very badly done. Her family is evil, I got it, but isn’t there anything else aside from being bloodthirsty and maniacal ? They are so stereotypical. And her power with the butterflies grossed me out.
Anyway i don’t get it, the plot is nonsensical to me. The characters are generic and I just can’t take this seriously. I feel like reading a bad sm romance with a clumsy attempt at a more mature kind of plot. Maybe I’ll try again later when there’ll be more chapters available.

Art style is good and the MC is part of a family of evil psychopaths (most of them). To protect herself and those she loves (the mother), she has to be sorta evil, and I can see people like her character.

    Will continue to read

MC reincarnated into light fantasy House of the Edgelords, who think being edgy is the ultimate expression of power and cunning. Her family is so over the top evil, psycopathic, and edgy that its enjoyable in bad junk food sort of way. Don't get me wrong, it makes absolutely no sense, they are treated with respect because apparently they can murder people good, instead of you know being put down by their peers for being complete and unrepentant bloodthirsty psycopaths. But they apparently "know where the bodies are hidden" and no one has come up with the idea that they would stop knowing if they did the world a favor and wiped them out. I'm secretly holding onto hope that ALL the noble families will be equally crazy in different ways. Story is overall standard fair; Art is great, story is generic (But that's expected).

If you'd like to trade in the standard generic friendship and flowers , for blood and butterflies its an okay read.

    [as of chapter 20]

Despite the garbage title, “The Way to Keep an Older Brother of the Heroine Safe” is a breath of fresh air for a sub-genre stultified by a lack of imagination and breadth. It takes the isekai’d novel reader with a nobility fetish and combines it with a world harbouring the over-the-top violence and mental instability of stories like Mirai Nikki, Deadman Wonderland and Elfen Lied. The moral degeneration on display is shlocky (practically a trope of this genre), but it’s all the more entertaining for it. A dark, gothic twist on the fairtale asesthetic then melds this package together. It forms a reading experience that is a bit more sultry and “naughty” when compared to the innocent whimsy of, for example, “Who Made Me a Princess”. I look forward to the continuation of this story and hope it can find a way to integrate the larger themes and backstory introduced so we aren’t just left with a male damsel occasionally visited by our butterfly villainess. Stone walls and entrapment can only be entertaining for so long.
