    there are some technical undead species ive read about where they are technically classified as undead but still retain most of their biological functions like touch taste smell sight and most important not becoming a rotting husk. the only lacking thing is a beating heart so their skin is pale and the body is cold. the one i read about required a lot of souls to keep this benefit and if he didn't get souls he would become ravenously hungry and lose all sense of self. but in this case its prob the plot armor "its just magic" excuse of calling him a undead but still being alive except for his heart. im calling it later he will be like oh yeah i can have children and stuff
