What to say about this work. Well, it is a whole lot of SA. At times it seems like there is nothing but SA. BUT, there is a excellent story hide among all that SA. And after season 3 or book 3 the SA is supposed to stop. In the book it did, don't know about the manga though. After season 2 or book 2 I was going to quit as I cant stand SA, but after read book 3 Im going to give season 3 of the manga a chance. I really loved the story in Book 3, and side stories.
Based on a webnovel, you can tell the team adapting the story into a webtoon really respect the material and enjoy the original work.
The art is great! The pacing good, the characters complex and all different. Normally I haaaaate stories likes this....where there's multiple tops, 1 suffering bottom who has sex with different tops, and who's main top enjoys and allows this, BUT Profundis actually does seem to have a story, with complex characters.
There is one clear male top lead (Shinjae) that most likely will end up with the bottom lead (unless....the original webnovel was a bittersweet/tragedy ending?)

Yugeon is a suffering guide bottom who is made to have intercourse with different espers. Handsome and cute at times, as a reader you just feel bad for him and how the team treats him as a guide.
If you love a well written toxic story, with different complex characters in a guideverse setting with beautiful art and lots of smut scenes then...try it out! Be warned theres a ton of non-consensual scenes, horror elements and grotesque monsters they fight. One of the things that that frustrates me about the story is how Shinjae (the top) let's the bottom be a pass around and have sex with all the espers. At times having sex with multiple people at once....
The story about the monsters and world building is intriguing, and it's what kept me reading. However, there hasn't been one instance of real consent, and it's so depressing that I need something fluffy after I read up to the newest chapter. If the thriller part wasn't that interesting, I would have dropped this a long time ago.
4 tops and 1 bottom is a bit much in any given situation, and they mistreat him all the time. The bottom is basically a tool for them, but bc the bottom is so good at guiding, he's their favorite tool and they "worry" about him like this is some visual novel harem. But when bottom says no, they keep going and have their way with him. I know some ppl like this kind of stuff. I've given my heads up for anyone who's bother by this kind of play, so to each their own.
Disgusting... only rape scenes, one after another.... sometimes I'm wondering what those authors have in their mind...
