He was forced to leave Konoha because he was branded as a traitor after Eida unintentionally manipulated the village people's memories and Kawaki is using the manipulation to his advantage. Sure what Kawaki is doing is selfish, unjustified and hypocritical claiming that Boruto is an Otsutsuki even though he(Kawaki) is one himself, but narratively it's a good direction to make Boruto stronger and mature of the world around him as we've seen in this new sequel. For those who constantly dislike the series so much, you have the option to leave.
