    I'd say it was a video game as that's what it seems to be set up as and everyone are just kind of NPC's trapped in a resetting play through, but the skeleton complicates that. Is he a player with amnesia that can't log out? Doesn't seem so as the game would be resetting every time he dies, and it wouldn't be great for other players if their own play through had to start over every time some rando died.
