Not really a review but I wanted to inform potential and current readers that the manga starts going it's own route from chapter 47 and they also add a lot more story and character screen time that isn't present in the original. I started thinking that the alteration in story may have been done in order to allow the original to receive more chapters but looking at the current chapter of the original (108 as of writing), I don't think this manga will keep story on the same path. It will be interesting to see the outcome of the current arc of this manga when we will actually find out what has changed and what has remained the same.
The manga is excellent nevertheless and the action never dulls down. The bonus added screen time for the manga's characters is one of it's more subtle charms that isn't present in the original. Though quite honestly, the remake may have shifted away from the qualities that were present before chapter 47.
I'm already feeling that much of the spirit that was present in the original may have been lost for good in the remake, especially the gags, so I suggest reading the original too.
He seems immortal, but I stumble upon this video at youtube (This is how to kill Saitama One Punch Man! 1 Minute Anime Theory) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PYoLg5uG6o . It said that Saitama is lucky when he fight Boros, he should be killed in the space.
Anyway, this is a very good series and fun to read. Everything is balanced and the jokes is natural 🙂
ONE's version is far better. The redrawn version is full of cliche and stereotypical characters. The story lost a lot of its charm and uniqueness and became just another story about superheroes.
Although it's based on a very same series of other I love the way this is going. I like the way the artist keep the protagonist's look from the original, I always feel that he is so out of character (in terms of art).
Art is definitely good, it's actually very good, and the story is also great. I initially hesitate to pick this one up, because, well I thought it will be lame if the protagonist just take down his opponent with one blow, but surprisingly the author find a way to work around that. All in all it makes good story. It's also very funny at times. The only down side is the rate of release. It's very slooooooow.
Really good as a gag manga, but I guess, since the stakes aren't high enough, the plot kind of loses its impact. (have not read all the volumes yet, probably challenging monsters appear later?)
Well, more like, there are no stakes at all. While Saitama IS ridiculously overpowered, since it's because of his hard work, so it's done in a sympathetic manner.
Though it seems that only Saitama's hard work has paid off, while the other heroes who probably train just as hard are left in the dust. At some point, even the monsters become sympathetic due to the fact that they stand no chance. At. All.
So while it's great as comedy, sometimes apart from the sheer impact of the action scenes, the motivations and stakes really don't add up. It seems really superficial. And while one-shotting everything is hilarious, it's almost insulting to the struggles of the rest of the cast.
btw saitama has great villain potential. Would 100% read if he were villain!
This is one of the best manga I've ever feasted my eyes on. The action scenes from the artwork are breathtaking, possibly even better than the actual animation's.
While some chapters drag, the comedy never fails to make me laugh and brighten my day.
i do not like how sexualised the siblings are in this version[tatsumaki and fubuki]
i understand why
Lolis are hot and boobs allways rule[money]
but it cheapens them both
one of the better comedies the last couple of years
feels very much like Gintama , Sexy Commando Gaiden - Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san or Pyu to Fuku! Jaguar
awesome ++ in other words
Best protagonist ever.
And the story is fast and awesome. The redrawn version definitely adds something tand it's quite faithful to ONE's version.
Only thing I **really dislike **in this version is the way they draw the female characters, ESPECIALLY Fubuki. She's way too sexualized and she looks weak and annoying. In ONE's version she's badass and interesting. It's a big big waste of a good female chara in a story that lacks a bit in this department.
But still, great story, recommended.
This manga is the best superhero manga right now. It's funny, full of action and the art is amazing.
Read the first chapter and you will be sold.
My favorite part about this manga is that..
Every single character, even the backgrounds, have so much detail and are unique, having their own distinct feature that sets them apart from other characters...
EXCEPT the main character.
The dynamic between Saitama's abilities and his appearance and personality make the manga more interesting entertaining along with the comedic aspects.
The story and the art are easy to follow along.
It's the type of manga I wouldn't mind re-reading several times.
This is one that you need to just take a step back from and enjoy. It has so many incredibly funny moments that you will struggle to not laugh.
I dont know about the original, I don't really care how long the plot takes to progress or where it goes and I don't really care about the art as stick figures can make you laugh. I am 100% looking at it from an enjoyment side, if you read it and laugh then your day just got a little better.
This is how a gag manga should be. This is comedy, even things I would not normally find funny had me in fits of laughter. It really is a unique blend and hits the funny bone every time.
Saitama instantly became one of my favorite characters.
liked so much that i started reading ONE raws , and the drawing did not bother me... it made me laugh and think the same...of course MURATA art is insane i always re-read the new chapters.
