pacing is good in this series, it delivers exactly what the title describes, but also takes time to dig into intrigues of aristocracy and how miserable living in fuedal society with magic actually is - the author clearly took time to consider nuances in this series
This is an extremely pleasant series with pleasant characters that I enjoy seeing interact with each other.
One of the biggest problem with the series is how sometimes it tries to be really smart and instead becomes non-sensical and stupid for a little bit before returning to the pleasant parts.
Another big problem is just how often we have to listen to every character monologue about how amazing the protagonist is. I thought it was obvious from how they acted and having them say it out loud makes those parts embarrassing. And it's not like they just do it once to establish it and then assume your remember it, instead they just repeat it over and over again.
I'm getting so tired of these series that are all "He/She has a useless ability exile/betray/mistreat him/her". Everytime I've read one of these series its always an ability that would definitely be useful and makes no sense why you'd not want it and this series is one of those to the T. This is especially true when you consider he's considered a prodigy.
Also its really annoying having these our worlders go to another world and apparently have been the greatest leaders of thier day cause of how perfect their city building skills are :V
