To be fair, the story makes it clear that these beastfolk have a phobia and grudge against humans. Even if they know MC is different and from another world, they must find it difficult to see him in a positive light.

The story also makes it rather clear that the MC is happy with his situation. He doesn't even seem to mind wearing the slave collar or being led around by a leash. He never complains about all the verbal and physical abuse dished out by his mistress (and others), or being treated as a 2nd class citizen. And while he clearly hates being overworked and being deprived of food until he finishes his work, he puts up with it well enough to smile most of the time and work with enthusiasm.

There's a word for people like that: masochist. It seems this story was written with a target audience of masochists and those who do not mind seeing an MC being a slave and fully accepting this treatment.
