And I don't think any of the depictions we've seen are too culture-bound. I've never done competitive sports, but the issues shown so far match stories I've heard about high-performing sports kids: fierce competition and stress derived from parent and peer pressure, turning a hobby into a career prospect at a very young age and having to cope with the consequences, frustration at people who outperform you apparently without effort, schools using sports to boost their prestige and kids entering the rat race of athletic referrals…
