Things develop normal/fast like in real life (I'm talking about relationship).
Nowadays they create a "Romance" Manga with 200 chapters just characters can touch their hands with each other or having proper eye contact.
That's why older Romance Manga series have most of the time better plot, it feels often realistic and doesn't milk the love.
Also what helped was probably a Main character who can actually talk and look at girls
The only thing I can think of for the meaning of Issho's comment is that she's too far beyond the others, and this is supposed to be an amateur contest. By being a pupil of a renowned master that's been practicing since childhood she she should be doing actual shows/training as she's been doing before this, and by competing with such an advantage (and therefore winning) she's taking away an opportunity from the actual amateurs. Have no idea if that's anywhere close to right, but super excited for the next chapter! This whole mini-arc has been building to it and I sure hope the hype pays off.
