From the look of the most recent chapter, i think you are reacting to her situation exactly as the author intends: it feels like that arc is building steam, especially with the thorn motif that was previously associated with infidelity and divine judgement. I would not be surprised if her situation recieves central focus and resolution some time in the near future, but things may get worse before they get better.
