This series is for me a series with by far best in terms of social commentary. It has good match of comedy and social commentary to give a very nice read.
The episode Vasco's Birthday had me rolling on the floor.

Lookism is an impactful webtoon well worth the read due to the many lessons that it teaches.

Although it starts off on the rough side, each arc of the story provides insightful social commentary on the issues that plague a society, such as bullying and discrimination towards "ugly" people (i.e. Lookism). It does well to build off of previous arcs, without losing sight of the main story.

The characters are quirky and memorable, even if those qualities aren't necessarily good. The character development among the main group really begins to show farther into the chapters, making it much easier to have them grow on you. The main character in particular has shown the most growth in developing a sense of responsibility for his actions. I love the kindness that he builds within him for his mother, friends, and most importantly himself.

It is obvious that the author clearly took his time to make meaningful choices to portray how the qualities we hold within far outweigh the shallowness of looks. I hope that the story continues in its current direction as I believe it can have a profound impact on how audiences will begin to view their own biases on "unattractive" individuals.

I love the art, the premise, how the male characters are protayed and some of them grow BUT the female characters are undeveloped, annoying and/ or stupid and their proportions are unbeleivable. To me it feels like the series hates women.
But this doesn´t mean one should stop reading the series, it does have some nice critiques about society and how we treat people specially ugly ones.

I'm glad I gave this manhwa a try. I was unfortunately biased against it for reasons that are better left unsaid, but once I decided to read it, I was hooked as soon as I saw the main character. The addition of the MC's mother is heartwarming and gives this comic an extra charm. It's relatable and moving. If I have one criticism, it would be a lack of female characters beyond the airheaded popular girls. Girls get just as many judgments for our appearance. While generally we do not get bullied the same way boys do, the psychological torment an unattractive high school girl gets from her peers can be just as heartbreaking. I'd love to see that. Even with the introduction of Crystal (English name), her bullying wasn't as highlighted as the male characters as I would have liked and she doesn't appear often (thus far in the English translation, although I imagine it would increase).

I also enjoy the character developments. The artwork is excellent as well. The action scenes are fluid, facial expressions are great, and I especially enjoy the uniqueness of every character.

At first, the character design can be ugly and somewhat scary, and the story, silly and cruel. That's the magic of Lookism. So, if you find the main character incredible annoying and stupid (he is), keep reading.
In every arc the author picks one REAL subject that students, and people in general, can go through.
¿Design clothes, body shaming, betting, problems cause because of the use of internet? We all know that they're 21th century issues, insecurities that today teens and even adult strugle. And the fantastic thing is that, no matter how cruel it is shown, its the TRUTH.
I would like to remark that none of these characters is shown only in a good light (except the blonde guy, who is awesome). Anyone can be a bully, and sometimes the victim becomes a bully.

These days korean webtoons are very popular and people join their fandoms actively, however, this manhwa is pure gold and I can't stress enough how much I recommend it.
The author makes a societal commentary in each chapter and touches many heavy issues, one at a time, but the most important issue that is examined in this manhwa is the divergent aspects of bullying. Most of the characters are bullies at one point in the series but each one of them for different reasons. Some just follow the herd mentality, some are pure evil (like the huge guy that bullied Hung Suk in his previous school and the other guy that bullied Vasco, my cute little baby), some are drunk on the sense of superiority they feel through the abuse, etc. The setting is very disturbing, we see young minds, that are completely rotten and corrupted, stay out of prison; noone trusts the police or when they do, the police is rather useless; the teachers are never there or they don't seem to notice their blood-bathed, beaten-to-the-extreme students, they don't supervise nor monitor the situation. However, there are many comic reliefs and this makes reading this manhwa easier.

A cliche and boring premise turned into a unique, compelling and shockingly cute story. I started this story prepared to like maybe one or two characters while everyone else is an exaggerated bully but, while it does have exaggerated bullying, there are seriously precious characters that are likable, sweet and cute. Did not expect that. Which brings me to a mini rant.

Main girl has finally come into the story full time and she is handled so badly that I almost wanted to drop it. But the other characters are so likable that I'm holding out that she gets better. She's a judgmental, self-righteous, hypocrite, and in a cast where most of the characters have already gone through their redemption arcs and have learnt to let go of their prejudice, she really stands out.
It's okay if she's flawed, but she looks down on and misunderstands people too, even the main character, and it's irritating how their entire plot is just one big misunderstanding. I hate contrived plot lines that can be solved by characters sitting down and discussing their problems over tea. Here's hoping her arc comes soon. I'll gladly welcome her into the cinnamon roll club. Guess that's just a side effect of bringing in an important side character so late and making them hate all the characters you love.

It starts off pretty bumpy but as you keep reading it just pulls you in and you're totally hooked.
The art is outstanding and it has pretty great humor.
The main character is annoying at times because he's dense but he begins to grow and gain more experience.
Overall, it's one of my favorite webtoons.

One of my favorites. Great plot and goodlooking characters with interesting back stories. One of the few stories where the bad bully guy turned good and I went from disliking him to him actually becoming one of my favorites.

The best part for me is when the MC goes from a weak guy blaming the world for his misfortunes to growing up and standing up for himself. I also applaud the author for being able to channel the really creepy parts thru the arts, I actually shuddered

It starts off as an okay kind of "ehhh" manhwa where you only read because you're bored but as the story progresses you start to care for the mc more, he came off as pathetic but now he's really willing to change. And my god is Vasco one of the best characters ever, but of course he isn't the main character. There's a lot of character development in this and it's absolutely amazing, don't drop it until chapter 5. This manhwa will become something really amazing in later chapters. It's sad that it's not so well known but that's a given because it's a webtoon. Anyways, try it out, it's a manhwa for everyone, or almost everyone, it does get creepy in some aspects but it's nicely done and doesn't romanticize things, it's realistic. It gives light to a side most of us don't want to cross with a pathetic protagonist who shames his own mother, takes his hate out on her, and blames her for his miserable life, a despicable protagonist you don't really like but once the story progresses he changes and you find that you sympathize with him and you understand him better and he becomes absolutely awesome. This manhwa will continue to look at the perspective of other characters too and I believe that everyone can relate to at least one of the characters in this series. It is quite well done and I hope you give it a try. Kudos to the author for making something so amazing.
