(written after vol 1 ch7.5)
It's nothing special, but it's light, and nice, and feels like it could have potential to be more.
I really liked this manga so far. But the events in these chapters, felt just extremely forced. This writing makes you think that these extremely "edgy" plot points, are there just for the story to be "edgy", and when they feel extremely forced, then they just become things of cringe.
"Hey, these two girls who have suffered enough for several life-times already, let's not have them have an easy life from here on, with a loving mother figure of a giant insect. Let's instead torture these girls more, let's break their psyche, let's turn them into monsters, because that's edgy as sh*t"
-The author probably, who's actually just some teenager who thinks writing like this edgy and metal, and totally not cringy at all (sarcasm)(but seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised at all, if that was the truth).
I love that Kishiro-sensei has maintained the consistency of Alita's preferred strategy... autotomy. And now that we know her origin, the factor of how she subconsciously has always seen her body became even more interesting.
I hope to see some of these Altmeisters in action, by the scene right behind him Austad didn't rise to his position by only being good in politics. One of the things I always wanted in the past series was to see Panzer Kunst in full bloom, Alita has adapted the style too much with the years, and the snippets of the style show how much she has deviated from it... hope that her "depowering" has made her go back a little with the excessive trick she employed, they are fun but some were a little too asspully.
But 100 chapters first
