Astolfo had it rough, it has been a lot of time since i read the entire story but i remember that i quite disliked him, i still can see why i felt that, but if the more detailed info on his past and my short memory (XD), i feel more pity for him now, as he really is just a pawn for the Hate Side of the human side.
This story is really about hatred, self-loathing, and forgiveness, it is clear that being a vampire or human doesn't mean anything, you just are a person with all that comes with it, but this conflict is just being dragged to monolithic proportions because those in power on both sides are either hateful bastards or complete psychotic asshole.
I still remember how cute Jeanne was... and she still is. I will give it a reread.
