My reading of the "rush" is that he's the one (well the A.I. too) that has hands-on awareness of the threat. If he does not establish a defense plan within his lifetime, the planet is in danger of subsequent generations believing his fears unfounded and failing to follow through. Probably still a concern unless they create a new religion with the A.I. speaking directly to "prophets" or "saints" (*sigh* who am I kidding? It would be "saintesses" because of course it would be).

The resource question is potentially legitimate as they would need to launch anything they fabricate on world into orbit. Perhaps the ship is in too poor condition to leave orbit to mine other bodies (with lesser gravity wells) in the system. Communication with the commander might be challenging if the ship were to leave orbit too.

I see all this as moot though since the bug invasion is 100% happening within his lifetime if this series is not cancelled.

Why in mangas most of the time the side characters will always have better design than the main character?
especially the heroines, the 2nd heroine are most likely to be better than the 1st, and the 3rd are most likely to be better than the 2nd, and so on.

If i remember, this will be axed because there aren't people liked it good as konosuba but its good in its own .
