I'm the Max-Level Newbie

I'm the [insert a lameass title]

When the world fell to ruin according to the VR game he knows everything about, there were 0 people the MC cared about enough to even phone them and provide basic instruction. There is something fundamentally wrong about him. I haven't read much, but the MC is so unlikable I feel bad every time he succeeds at something.

Why should I root for someone whose only desire is to rule over the world or something ? It isn't entirely clear, but it seems he just aims at becoming the strongest and hogging all the prizes for the sake of it. We get no justification as to why he needs to hog all the perks. If the options are world destruction or everyone being under the boot of the MC, it is unclear which is worse. I'm rooting for a third party.

Currently read until chapter 105.

A good time, not very deep. Gets a little more interesting around like, chapter 50? I thorough self-insert power fantasy. The mc is a little annoying, oscillating between seeming completely heartless and then seeming like he maybe cares then appearing heartless again. He does seem to be loyal to his subordinates and comrades though, even when he takes advantage of them he always protects them. Exploitative mc's are not my cup of tea, so the fact that he sometimes takes care of his subordinates is the only way I can make it through those parts hahaha. I like the artstyle, the plot (to a point), but I think the character development is where its lacking. Regardless, I will probably go back and read this when it finishes or gets to chapter 200 or something and I can binge read it again. They move up the tower incredibly slowly but I've never been bothered by that, and I actually even like it (though it does make me worry that it will never finish lol).

The main character does what he wants. He plans ahead and does everything at his own pace, always leaving the competition a few steps behind in his schemes. No-one will fully comprehend all that he's up to in the heat of the moment, but he'll ultimately resolve everything in a way most favorable to himself.

Also, Alice is wonderful. Not only is she cute, she's the perfect companion for Kang Jinhyeok - her outlandish behavior keeping pace with his own. They make a wonderful duo of troublemakers.

I don't get it: why are stories starting to show up that try and make sociopathic, psychopathic, antisocial, etc. behavior look like a good or desirable thing? Like it's something that more people should have?

The MC (main character) is dismissive of human life, petty, vengeful, refuses to see the good in anyone while projecting his own selfish behavior onto everyone he meets, and would rather thousands die instead of let people know how to survive when the system is literally set up to have as many people survive as possible (encouraging people to make good tutorials by rewarding them).

And the story is just cynical enough to try and justify everything the MC does, as if such inhumane behavior is righteous. As a result, other characters have to be incredibly unbelievable and stupid just to try and make it look like it works.

This one's a hard pass, which is too bad for the artist and character designs; they would be decent to have in a better story.
