I hope there's more to this secret society than what we've seen so far because this is really dumb.
I choose to imagine that the translation team's proofreader allowed this line to survive scrutiny for its sheer, simple preposterousness.
(As for the rest of that scene's confounding dialog: I choose to believe that both a proofreader does actually exist and that the line I highlighted disrupted normal grammatical/logical reasoning.)
