wonder why I laughed? I'll get to that, but let me say some things first.
I really love this series. In fact, I like this one better than Amatsuki, which is by the same author. I especially like how I could completely sympathize with the characters' feelings. After all, there are only so many stories you could sympathize with the characters' circumstances. And this one really got into me. It (the story) is really about family and friendship, even though wrapped in such complicated way.
As to why I laughed, here is some spoiler:
It makes me think that Takayama Shinobu is one intriguing and clever mangaka, if not sly.
same opinion as ForteAtrox: GREAT manga, BAD scanlation. (though I dont wanna sound ungrateful either) its just that the manga is somewhat complex (it has a great plot but also a lot of details and different characters) so its very hard to follow when the scanlator doesnt think ahead a little and is too literal... :/ but the story is just superb and the art, oh the ART. I absolutely LOVE this mangaka!! and Im guessing that I'd love this so much more if a few key things were easier to understand... stil, I love this one hard ^^
The concept of this series is one that I enjoy. It's funny, interesting, and the art is absolutely FAAABUUULOUUUSSS! I even love the characters.
The only thing that is holding me back from absolutely loving this manga is the translations...
I'm 5 chapters in and some things don't make sense and the phrasing of this manga is AWFUL.
Here are some examples:
"Is it not? This seems to be a key point where the waves come together so it seems."
"In that country, this illiterate and ignorant chiuyou san, even if by accident, followed my thinking and took action."
And this isn't just sometimes it's ALL the time. Augh, it brings me much pain... Translations shouldn't be so literal! The job of a translator is to transfer the meaning of words in one language accurately to another but when everything is done too literally, then that can just ruin the entire translation itself.
I don't want to seem entirely ungrateful to the group that's doing this but if you're going to do something, it should be done right. 🤢
She just needed a good amount of mana to feed herself
Things we wish the MC had the cojones to say but doesnt
