It seems I still can't move on from this one
I'm sure that some Japanese boys (and creepy weebos) don't care about that, maybe even the majority. But the problem is that what kids see in media is reflected in real life. If we're teaching/showing young boys that it's okay to objectify/sexualize women in media, then they can apply the same practice in real life. I agree that most people want a character that reflects themselves, so in a shounen demographic, perhaps girls aren't the most important characters. But still, that doesn't make it okay to have them all be useless, clumsy, and/or a bubblehead.
