Fantasy Bishoujo Juniku Ojisan to

My new review (I've caught up to chapter 155):

This series is truly an enigma... I decided to for the sake of it to just hamfist going at it since I read 20 chapters... And well, I've changed my mind if you start to "get the comedy or the vibes". I decided to view it like the way I would view an anime (I know this one has an anime adaptation but I've never seen it), and bam, it clicked.On the technical side, the drawing skills, paneling, and pacing are excellent for what it is going for. The main "weakness" I would find is that its premise can be rather weak (but can also be a strength depending on how you view it) and the plot feels like "I'm making it up as we go along" pantser-type. The comedy is not the "funniest", but it gets a chuckle and relaxes me if I'm in the right mood to read it.If you turn off your head while reading it AND NOT TAKE ANYTHING SERIOUSLY. You can have a great time. Not the funniest, but still decently enjoyable.The sub casts, situations have an incredibly wacky beat and motivations. Like nothing makes sense. If you can give in to that type of narrative. You can have a great time. If you read this while keeping your pragmatism (like my first try), then it'll probably not feel very great to read.Some setups that I really enjoyed (that doesn't even make sense):- A random cat in the wilderness, happened to flip a rock, the rock then tumbled down and became a big boulder, then the boulder just pushes over a "villain" that the protagonists have to fight (where they would have otherwise not made it).  - A princess who decided to throw a tantrum and become the main antagonist for a short while, on a whim because of the boo booThe non-sensical childishness is probably the main charm of this series. You'd be like, I can't believe THAT happened... yeah, it happens all the time in this series...It's a comedy first and foremost that has a chill vibes. Kinda reminds me of the "Become the Tanuki" series interactions-wise but with more wacky setups. I was wrong in my first review, it's not even CGDCT at all!  

OG Review (where I only read 20 chapters):

Title: A unique take but it kinda felt flat for me  Body:OK so instead of the development of "I got genderswapped and isekai-ed" it's "I got genderswapped and isekai-ed WITH MY FRIEND who did not genderswap".The main storyline seems to have a weak direction thus forgettable and not really memorable; however that would not have been a problem if the author invested max with the comedy. Things get old fast if you're not really into the main protagonists' dynamic. Tension is supposed to be high but it feels low to me (maybe due to the lack of stakes thus is not really immersive).I'm not sure what the author is going for, either a romance or a comedy but it feels a bit half-assed like a bait but for me that's kind of like getting chickened out. I'd love it more if the author would "fully commit" to a narrative type, it has the weak aura of CGDCT that I'm not that fond of.  

A comedy about two friends trying not to fall in love with each other in a fantasy world while cursed to end up in ridiculous situations with characters that aren't all there.

The jokes and quips are often and funny, the story knows how to use and twist tropes to great effect, and it also knows how to mix in a serious situation to satisfaction.

And the way this story plays their flawed but unbreakable friendship with the insanity that comes from one of them being gender bent—forcing both characters to confront deep flaws in themselves they were trying to avoid—is very well written and paced.

The one is a man who does not believe in romance and is disgusted by typical women's behavior, who actively stops his best friend from even getting his foot into the dating world out of a selfish (and extremely unhealthy) desire to keep his bubble the same.

The other is a whiny person who is looking
for love but doesn't accept the responsibility necessary to find it and is far too reliant on his best friend.

One man is seeing his best friend become the thing he wanted to avoid while the other is forced to lay in the bed he made. Neither is happy and yet they begin to grow as people.

One of the best gender bender i've ever read (favorite genre of mine)!

I had to laugh out loud so many times, sometimes i even died and had to get back for the wholesome cute moments. Those two are hilarious while trying to keep their minds cool/"straight" and not "charmed".

the recent chapters (currently ch 102) are sooooooooo goooooood!!! the artwork is so beautiful (and funny on the spot). it doesn't has that usual gb-fanservice, so don't worry; also i don't think that it's inappropriate because tachibana looks young and Jinguuji "old" (actually not at all), they look good together and are of the same age, no FBI needed.

I wonder where their (love-)story/of friendship is going but it's worth reading!!!

I like the author's sense of humor. At the beginning I wasn't completely sure how I felt about the story or their relationship, but now I understand it's all good comedy.

Also, this story is written by a married couple of mangaka! Neat fact.

Ok, no kink-shaming or judging me please lol.

I have wide tastes, but something that I've always been on the look-out for is a Gender-bender type where the person used to be male, but transformed to female, and gets all sexed up by the guys and experiences the life of a female. There are several hentai manga/anime about this but they're so few and far in between.

I'm a fan of yaoi (fangirls unite!) lol so I don't really mind the gay implications (lol the amount of angry boys protesting 'the gay' in the comments of each chapter is hilarious tho) and I love romance, be it found in shoujo, shounen, josei, or seinen. (For some reason tho I don't like yaoi/BL manga where the guy used to be a girl in previous life but is a dude at present and gets together with another dude).

I love the comedy hijinks that must ensue from something like this, especially if the guys were best friends and now one of them has a vagina and boobs.

Although there's no ecchi tag on this, I hope we get at least a little ecchi standard in most shounen.

It starts of funny and keeps getting more interesting and hilarious as you go on.
