The MC reminds me a little bit of Helk.

This is just one of the manga that has a fascinating premise and delivers something completely different. The twist is fascinating, but not compelling. It has its moments, but the constant twists and turns keep you from feeling like there's any central story or goal. Side characters make up most of the story now, and the Hero being some kind of glitched loop cheat character basically puts him in a situation where he doesn't have a path to victory by himself without an asspull, since according to his memory, he's tried basically everything. The metaphor of living in a fake world or a painful real one is just a flavor, but not really a key element. There's too much and too little going on at the same time. Half of the story is flashbacks and there's so little forward progress. It seems like it's ending soon even though it also feels like we're barely getting started or have gone anywhere. I wonder if next chapter will be the last. Freiren is a better manga.
