The weakest part is that the MC's behavior is unexpected. He doesn't usually behave like an old person, but one can imagine that never having the chance to mess around in his first life, he overcompensates in this life by acting silly and trying to laze about, but it can't last in the demon cult, and indeed it doesn't.
The rest of the series is well made. Art is good, action is good.
The story is surprisingly intriguing and intelligent and rich with detail. For example, when the MC starts cultivating demonic arts, it affects him, making him more volatile and violent, something he needs to deal with. This isn't something that is very explicitly stated or handled in a few chapters and then forgotten about, this is just one of many parallel threads that run over the story. One often can't guess what the MC is going to do next, but not because he is going to do something dumb, it just unexpected and often insightful.
There are multiple other characters that are also interesting and fun to read about, especially the demonic lord. I think he is one of if not the best written demonic lord. Powerful, extremely intelligent and sharp, incomprehensible enough to not feel quite human, but something else. He "tries" to be a God. I don't think he is a good God, but it is undoubtedly interesting to read.
It starts more or less well but after 54 chapters I cant say there hasn't been too much advance to the plot other than when he defeated the other disciple. If you think about it except for that, completing his revenge and making the third leader of the elders stronger everything else would've been the same without the MC.
The MC himself doesn't make a deep impression. The author is constantly mentioning how he wants to go but he doesn't. He just acts out of character half the time kike a random cocky MC would, rather than a mature one. His current personality differs greatly from his original and he hasn't learnt anything from the flashbacks we've seen (The only reason his faithful servant is alive is plot armour).
The fact that he got near his original power and his revenge early into the story makes the plot aimless. He's currently being assigned as an inspector ... just as half the historical inspired Korean series, this shows lack of originality and it makes me doubt the author isn't just milking the plot with random arks an era drama would have. I mean the first ark just got his power back and the fox pet, but in reality the fox just serves to fill 10% of the chapters and a 8 month time skip would've done the same in way less chapters.
This is apart of the typical regression troupes, but this protagonist does not make you yawn. After 42 chapters this webtoons is starting to pick up with great action, art, and MC's revenge.
P.S. Y'all thought I only read harem shounen huh? Guess what? Wholesomeness is universal!
