Kyotaro Ichikawa, a boy barely clinging to the bottom rung of his school's social ladder, secretly imagines himself as the anguished hero in a psychological thriller. His days are filled with devising plots to disrupt his classmates' peaceful lives and harboring a crush on Anna Yamada, the class idol. Yet, Kyotaro is far from the troubled teen he pretends to be, and it becomes clear that Anna has her own peculiarities too.

Possibly. I know there are definitely other contenders for that title. But I'm serious in saying this is a serious contender for it, too.
I'll do a detailed comment later. Just thought I say this much for now.
The first 20 chapters or so are pretty off-putting but are very much necessary when you get to see how the romance progresses alongside the well-thought out character development. Thought it would be generic at best but now it’s one of my favourite rom-coms period.
Bokuyaba's greatest trick is taking the MMC you encounter in the first chapter and, without fundamentally changing his personality or disposition, turning him into one of the most charming and respectable protagonists in any romcom ever.
There are highlights in the first 40 or so chapters, but not that much happens then, however past this point things really pick up pace. The author comes up with 30 different stages to the relationship and it really feels like it's progressing. Content wise it's similar to Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai, but it's written so much better.
I agreed with WinterCedar review on Yamada part.
The story does get better as the manga progress tho it doesn't give any impact to my heart. It doesn't give me that excitement feeling whenever I'm reading a manga.
The characters mesh well, the jokes land, and the art is cute. But it is so, so uncomfortable how they sexualize Yamada, a literal 13 year old. It's very weird and off putting.

I hate how they both like eachother but are unable to confess, anytime it seems to be like a confession scene, WABAM, some shit occurs like rental girlfriend does, thus i would say wait for the manga to finish, because most chalters that i read so far are just blue balling the reader

The first chapter comes off pretty graphic and you might feel like this might go down some dark drama path. The ML(Ichikawa) is emo, socially awkward but reads the room. He's also refreshingly caring, especially towards the FL(Yamada) given how he starts off.
The FL is pretty much the Middle School Idol given she's a model and eventually an actress. She's very quirky, and gluttonous.
Their interactions with each other are just adorable, it starts off.... I wouldn't say bad, but kind of dull. But it quickly changes pace and while it maybe slow burn you can see progress being made in their relationship.
