    Back to the series (chapter 26). I am starting to really feel bad for the novel's heroine. She seems perfectly decent, but our protagonist has inadvertently usurped a fated romance. (I am a fan of all the ladies in waiting at this point. Vera you can do this! Believe in your ability!) Of course, she only now coming to prominence, so we will see how events will progress. (Obviously that was a royal "we" as these are clearly notes to myself.)
