I love the artwork in this manga, especially the semi-chaotic aspect of it.

As a fan of yaoi and cute ephemeral guys, I find the BL aspect to be quite pleasing.

But to me this manga also contains a horror aspect. There is something horribly twisted about Shiro's former organization. Nightmarish (though not as sick as Berserk, I suppose).

But gorgeous art and delicious bishies 😛

Firstly, I started reading this because of the beautiful artwork. It's a bit over the top, but also extremely rich and dream-like. The world in which this takes place is full of amazing things and beautiful costuming. Underneath all that is a lot of humor, sometimes blatant and more often somewhat dry. There is definitely a story evolving in there somewhere, but it is slow to come together. Because we've only gotten a small piece of what is truly going on, it's hard to say whether the story is going to be great, or if it will fizzle and flounder as time goes on. It may just be an elaborate carrier for a ton of fanservice(which, I admit, is even a bit much for me...and I am a huge fan of BL), but hopefully we will get the chance to see for ourselves.

I want to order a copy of this manga. Even though I can't read Japanese well. Because it's just so damn beautiful and sexy, the art. Amazing. Seriously, this manga makes me horny even though there is no porn. It's just so... sensual.

A treat to any fans of bromance (and the characters are awesome, really cute and likeable <3 ). The manga is funny and fresh. I recommend.

EDIT; after 3 volumes I have to lower my vote. The manga is episodic, the stories are rather short, the secondary characters usually don't appear again (so far) and I just can't care about the solution of the mysteries... I only care about the relationship between Shiro and Kojiro that develops with every episode-- this seems to be the only point of telling those stories that don't lead anywhere (it seems). There are many young beautiful females in the stories (well, it's shoujo), almost every one centers around some, but I don't even remember their names and they look pretty much the same besides slightly different hair styles. It's also kinda ridiculous how Shiro gets involved in almost every case (gets kidnapped, becomes friends with the criminalist, etc etc)

I hope I don't sound too mean... I still enjoy this manga and plan to follow it. The art is stunning, the characters are such eye candies, and I love the main ones (Shiro and Kojiro). It's funny, too 🙂 The manga is 6 volumes long and ongoing, so my vote may change again. Hopefully I will raise my rating again 🙂

ahahaha this manga is HILARIOUS and the plot is GENIUS! 😀 the art is so pretty and so are the main characters. I love that there are so much hints of BL here and there XDD makes me frustrated that there is still no action between Shiro and Kojirou but at the same time I love the hints here and there XDDD they should def have sex! but at the same time it would remove the lil kick the writer has been providing us :--D so right now I'm just so confused whose mind screams yes sex but at the same time NOO! XD Keep it up Tsukiji-sensei! Fighting~!

I really like the straight-forward Kojiro... he is sooo sweet and understanding to shiro..
i like the part where he always risk his life for shiro and shiro reprimand him because he thinks he is not worth it, but then Kojiro answers back to shiro that he will regret it for the rest of his life..
the plot and art is a 10 for me...
    please translate this manga please...
    i really love this series...

I think Adekan is amazing. I love the artwork, which sorta reminds me of Kaori Yuki, a bit, and the detail put into clothing and buildings is gorgeous. The clothing worn by females in particular is amazing, in my opinion. Even if it's only a simple kimono, the way it flows is, well, gorgeous. And the more elaborate dress ups are... well. Wow. As for some of the stuff Shiro and Anri wears, it seems kind of steampunk-ish to me. Especially Anri. A sort of cross between steampunk and corsets, in the feel.
I wouldn't call it BL, per se. It might have enough Ho Yay to kill a horse, but that's all. So far. With the possible exception of Shiro/Anri. They seem to have been very...close... in their childhoods. There is howerver a ridiculous amount of erotic sub-text and a lot of the male characters, Shiro in particular, are very feminine in typical BL style. But not even Shiro (responsible for 90% of all the Ho Yay) seems to actually be gay, or even bisexual, when you think about it. Kojiro seems genuinely surprised when he uses his 'sex appeal' on a man to get what he wants. And then there's the thing with the drag-queens and the nurse costume... Though you never know.
Though the plot-lines can sometimes seem a bit to amazing and all over the place, it really fits with the overall style of the series. A lot of the art seems to be a bit to amazing to actually ever work in real life. The stuffed animals (especially the chamber with mythical half-humans), a lot of the copper statues, the box mansion, and, to be fair, a lot of Shiros umbrellas, are a bit unbelievable. And it really works.
Amazing manga, well worth a read.

I may be a bit biased due to my overpowering love of Nao Tsukiji's artwork, but I found this manga fantastic. The characters are unique, the art is extremely detailed, and there's a good amount of humour mixed in. I love the plot line as well. It's mysterious and slightly dark. This is not a BL manga, I repeat, NOT a BL manga. It may hint at it a little due to Shiro's personality and feminine look, as well as his relationship with Kojirou, but it is not BL. It's an action manga. I highly recommend it.

This manga is amazing! The story is great, the art is great. Shiro is just so damn sexy, though admittedly very feminine. This story definitely approaches BL, so if you don't like that sort of stuff, don't read it.

    No...

I just don't like shounen-ai or yaoi. Now after having read the first chapter, all I remembered were all those that I dislike most:

    1. (Way too) skinny guys that look (way too) feminine and girlish
    2. There seemed like attraction between that umbrella guy and the officer (who is a dude also)
    3. Oh-my-God the postures and gestures were so prostitute like (please excuse my language) and going along with #1...
      Just horrible!

I wouldn't suggest this to anyone of my taste... If there's any who'd read this comment.

    No rating.

The art is beautiful. The lines are a bit rough here and there, but I think that's what made the art appealing in some sense. It's not the most clean art around. But it can be real detailed sometimes.

Some people may not like the fact that this manga feminizes the male body a bit, but I think it's beautiful. Not weirdly, but definitely made the body more..flexible and sensual. ...which makes sense since this is supposedly a slash manga. so naturally, it would show off the male body in the same way that female body is shown in, say, ecchi, hentai, and shoujo ai....although i just noticed that it's not labeled as a yaoi or shonen ai genre--but it's listed in the category that it's a "slash."

It uses a peculiar combination of historical and seemingly modern equipments (or...not really..? like, having all the equipments strapped to the body and such--complicated contraptions. don't know how to explain it). Curiously, there are some European elements in the art as well.

The plot in general is a bi iffy for me so far. I'm not sure what to make of it since there aren't a lot of chapters out just yet. Not a lot to conclude from. The actions so far, though, seem to be coming out in arcs (episodic). It reminds me of a detective story, but with a hint of the supernatural (unknown setting, unknown time).
The characters are very intriguing. Even the side characters are well developed with good background story.
There are some humor in it, too. Some are quite funny.
The fighting scenes are great. Very aesthetically pleasing despite the rough drawing. All the acrobatics are amazingly drawn. To be honest, sometimes it's very sexualized-- there are no mentionable romance thus far, but, you know how fight scenes can sometimes be made to resemble sex scenes (or at least romance undertone)? It's like that. ("by gods, does he have to open his legs so wide?" and "why are they so close to each other?!")

If you are looking for an instant romance, you will be disappointed. This will be a slow build up one. Possible a "friend to lover" cliche. Not sure.

And yes, if there is to be a romance, it will be yaoi. I can see it coming (I'm just trying to convince myself here). The possible pairing is probably the most crucial reason as to why I'm following this manga.
then again, there's no way of telling it, is there? there are plenty of manga out there that has sexual undertones that ended up having no real romance in it, leaving that department to the readers' imagination (focus more on something non-romantic).

    Hope this help!
    Happy reading!

i would have been satisfied with the art. just the art. it is so beautiful, graceful and elegent, i'm ashamed my hand unable to come near that in another 100 years. i would have read this just for the art

but then the art is drawing incredible stories with amazing characters and i am absolutely in love with this manga. i would not hesitate to buy this manga if it ever shown itself in my country however expensive it is. the plot twist and character's motivation are unpredictable, all the stories are refreshing. i thought god child and kuroshitsuji are brilliant mystery/male eroticism/period manga but adekan surpassed them. a must read.

First of all, the art is gorgeous. All the little details are breathtaking, and I love the atmosphere of the era in which it takes place. Really, really sumptuous !

Secondly, the stories are really good, a bit dark just as I like them, and well-thought, with suspense. You can tell they're not just a pretence to draw beautiful characters, there is really something here.

Thirdly, the characters are awesome ! They have very strong personalities, and I can't wait to see what will happen to them and how they're going to react & to interract...

And last but definitely (definitely ! ) not least, it's HILARIOUS ! The humor is great, a bit absurb, just as I like it once again, really great ! AND, I just LOVE the yaoi subtext ! Hot, hot, hot !

To sum it up, a great find imo, and it's going straight (or gay ? Ok, ok, I'm leaving ! ) to my reading list !

PS : Special mention -> Tartufo, I love your review, and especially the title... XD

Edit : OK, I've just re-read v2c4, more precisely this, and I seriously think there should be a 'fanservice' tag on this manga...
