If you enjoyed Chobits, this is similar but with the gender roles reversed.

The plot, though not groundbreaking, remains engaging thanks to a few distinctive elements that set it apart from its peers. The emotional connection with the characters, particularly Night, is strong. His endearing and innocent nature had me constantly gushing. Of course, being penned by the talented Yuu Watase only adds to its appeal. You're in for a treat!

I instantly became captivated by this manga, to the point where I stayed up all night in my room, reading through the entire series in one go. While I was a fan of Soushi, I also adored Night. The characters were exceptionally well-developed, the storyline was compelling, and the artwork was breathtaking. Throughout my reading, I found very few faults, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It felt like a wonderful reintroduction to the world of manga. I wholeheartedly recommend this to everyone because I simply loved it!

The artwork was stunning! You can easily get immersed in the story, characters, art, and drama. It truly is amazing! I highly recommend everyone to read it!

Absolute Boyfriend is a truly remarkable manga. Watching the show is also enjoyable, though it features real people, which adds an amusing twist to the original concept. The story delves into the theme of love, exploring how friendships can strengthen our bonds and how knowing someone doesn't necessarily mean everything. It emphasizes the importance of being strong for yourself in this world, where sometimes your only friend is indeed yourself, while other times, life surprises you with meaningful connections.

Life is unpredictable like that. If you're looking for a good manga or show to watch, I highly recommend Absolute Boyfriend. Prepare to be emotionally moved; it might just make you cry your heart out. This manga and its adaptation are touching and profound, offering valuable insights into relationships and self-discovery.

It makes you laugh, cry, and experience all the emotions the characters go through. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this manga and would gladly revisit it someday. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

AB was a manga I read after seeing all the recommendations for it, plus I love Yuu Watase. It is about a girl named Riiko who has been yearning and trying (unsuccessfully) to get a boyfriend. She then meets a man who can grant her a "boyfriend". And this is how the story begins.

    STORY:

I found the basic concept pretty entertaining...the whole fake lover sort of thing. But not to worry, there's also romance with a real guy. I really enjoyed the love triangle and the semi-perverted comedy. The story will certainly not disappoint romance fans. It's Yuu Watase, after all! On the cons side, after you get past the fake lover concept, the romance turns out to be fairly cliché. Girl loves hot boy, but childhood friend loves girl. Also, there are some very perverted scenes where sex is seen as a way to "seal the deal". I am not going to lie; I felt that was unnecessary. Lastly, the little thing that bothered me was the abrupt ending. Even though I knew what was going to happen, I felt an epilogue was needed.

    ART:

The art was very well done. Yuu Watase is obviously pretty much flawless with her art and drawing. AMAZING!

    CHARACTER:

This will be my general opinion on the characters, so some people may think otherwise.

Night: I really loved Night, Riiko's fake boyfriend. I felt he was perverted but also very caring and protective (which I think is hard to come by). He was also very cute and very funny. He was truly an entertaining character whose personality was adorable.

Soushi: I really loved Soushi as well. He was very handsome, and the romance between him and Riiko was very entertaining. He is a boy-next-door/childhood friend turned lover type. I loved his personality too. He always put himself last and treasured Riiko's true feelings.

Riiko: Now, I am very judgmental when it comes to the female lead. So, to be honest, I thought she was a fairly weak lead. She is pretty desperate when it comes to love and is your typical yearning-for-a-boyfriend airhead. Now, she wasn't the worst heroine I have ever seen, but at some points in the story, she really got on my nerves.

    ENJOYMENT:

If you are into a shoujo romance/bishie/love triangle sort of thing like I am, then you will enjoy it (heck, I enjoyed it despite the heroine).

    OVERALL:

It is a light, short romance that is good to read when you have some extra time on your hands. I wouldn't say this type of story caters to everyone, but it does justice to shoujo romance fans (or Watase fans). So, I would say give it a go, and you will probably enjoy it.

*Keep in mind that there are some sexual themes*

So essentially, this addictive old-school shoujo read delivered a sudden shocking ending. Honestly, I wasn't expecting it to turn out that way at all! Well, you'll just have to find out what happened yourself. ;)

Anyway, I wholeheartedly agree that the main character was dense enough about her clumsiness and didn't seem interested in the robotic teen heartthrob from the start. However, she grew significantly when she stood up for herself.

Gaku and Soushi were actually the best characters in this series. Gaku is like the funny sidekick you'd love to go on adventures with. On the other hand, Soushi is that smart guy who isn't a fool at all and was always the perfect match for Riiko from the beginning! I kind of liked Riiko with Night, but I much prefer her with Soushi, lol.

Folks, this is a cute and funny read; you gotta check it out!

Riiko Izawa was a true queen of unrequited love. Every guy she liked turned her down, and she never had a boyfriend until one day, everything changed after she met a strange salesman named Gaku Namikiri. He gave her a website where you could buy a "lover" after Riiko mentioned she wanted a boyfriend. Heartbroken by the last rejection, she visited the site and to her surprise, it was real! Luckily for her, there was a three-day trial for the Nightly 01 series. Without thinking twice, she entered the characteristics she desired in a boyfriend. The next morning, a beautiful naked man appeared before her. She activated the Nightly 01 with a kiss, and just like that, he moved and talked like a human! From that moment on, she had a boyfriend named Tenjou Night.

But Night was different. Despite being a robot, he showed Riiko honesty and never forgot her even when other women tried to steal him away (if Night was kissed by another woman, he would recognize them as his new lover due to a censor inside his mouth). Gaku was surprised because usually, once kissed by another, the previous "master" would be forgotten, but Night didn't forget Riiko.

I felt a bit angry at Riiko when she got confused between Night and her childhood friend Soushi. And I also felt frustrated with Soushi. Why did he confess his feelings so late when Riiko finally had a boyfriend? He had plenty of time to do it earlier! But I truly felt happy when Riiko chose Night after realizing that even though he was an artificial figure, he would do anything to be with her. He even returned to her on his own after the company collected him to replace him due to severe damage from a fight with another figure, despite not being fully repaired.

The ending almost made me cry. Because even at the end, Night always thought about Riiko's well-being. And I think after that, Riiko no longer saw him as just a figure. He was the first man who loved her until the very end.

So far, this is my favorite manga because of its story. ^_^

Yo! This is my first manga review. You probably won't see too many of these because I've stopped reading manga a while back, and I won't buy or read any more from the Internet. If you see me add stuff to the manga list, it's of series I have read before that I have rediscovered.

Story: The story seems cliché: girl wants a boyfriend. However, getting a million-dollar sex toy at your door is stranger than anything. The story is pretty straightforward. Riiko gets this mysterious doll who acts and looks like a man, and she wants to figure out whether she wants to get enough money in order to buy him or send him away. At the same time, her friend wants to tell her that he loves her, but he doesn't have the courage to actually do it. For a few volumes, it's just a series of silly antics. Did I find it funny? Sometimes. Other times, I just skimmed through the pages. Is it bad? No. Just don't get too attached. I won't spoil how it ends, but I'm just warning you: don't get too attached. 8/10

Art: I don't usually judge manga art style well, but if there is one thing I will mention to you, it's this: fanservice, from what I remember, lasts for one volume (I don't remember chapters, forgive me), the first volume actually. For the rest of the series, Night has his clothes on, and it's just romantic nonsense. For manga art, I found it decent. Not anything groundbreaking, but this was written in what? The 2000s? It's good art, and I'll appreciate it for looking as it does on paper. 9/10

Characters: There are not many characters in this manga, and that's a good thing, so I can keep track of all of them. Hurrah! Our main character is Riiko, a girl who can't seem to get a boyfriend even if her life depended on it, how original! That is until one day she finds some interesting product called Love Figures in an advertisement. Little does she know how much they cost after signing up for a "free trial." She ends up with a Nightly Lover, who she calls Night, and do I have to mention what he's supposed to do to the woman as a product? She is also living with her childhood friend named Soshi, who has been in love with her since but who doesn't have the courage to confess his feelings until Night shows up. Honestly, I preferred Night over Soshi because Soshi was a jerk at times. In all honesty, I kinda didn't feel for the characters at all in this manga. They seemed like they didn't have feelings at all really. 7/10

Enjoyment: Enjoying this manga was a little hard even though I made it through. I guess because I was in my teens when I read this that it didn't appeal to me as much. The story was okay. The characters are...meh. The art is nice to look at though. Some funny moments here and there, but nothing groundbreaking. 8/10

Overall: If you guys want to read it, go ahead. It's not so bad. In fact, it's harmless. In short, the overall score of this would be ranked a perfect 8 out of 10.

I love Watase's work immensely. The art, the humor, the romance! Everything is fantastic. This story is incredibly fun, and I didn't mind the love triangle at all. Night and Sushi are so different from each other, yet I adore both of them. I understand why Riiko would be torn between them. My only disappointment was how quickly the story ended, with the plot being driven almost solely by the romance. There wasn't much else happening. It was intriguing that Riiko had friend drama, but that got resolved way too fast. Even by the end, I was hoping for Soushi to make a comeback, but I wasn't fully satisfied because their development lost steam. Still, I think this concept is super fun! I'm trying to watch the kdrama version too, but I wish there were more adaptations! And maybe I wish it was longer.

The characters are fantastic... and the story is somewhat unique (only a few stories I know have that kind of relationship)....

Story: As I mentioned, it's a bit unique. Only 'Chobits' and the manga about the cell phone girl (I forgot the name) start with finding a package of cuteness in some place...

Art: It's fairly decent, good but not great...

Character: The love triangle is wonderful; you really don't know at the start who will end up loving whom...

Enjoyment: Well, it's really cool how the story progresses and the love triangle between a male, a female, and a male-like doll...
