I think there's a little bit of confusion here, I also think the manga is also not clear enough on this point.
The original Pryde, the novel's protagonist, doesn't become a villain because of her mother's neglect, but rather the other way around: Her mother neglects and tries to distance her from power because Pryde IS a monster. That attempt is cut short in the novel because the Queen dies in an accident, leading Pryde to become queen.
Now our MC explains at some point she is convinced what she calls the Will of the World (The novel) will eventually cause that same madness to befall her. Meaning she will become Evil Pryde, no matter what she does. That is why she goes around gathering allies for her sister, and instructing people loyal to her to put her down should they perceive her as the threat she is bound to become. She is trying to ease the path of the true protagonist of the novel (her sister) by shortening her own evil reign.
