I wanted to discover other manga works by Daisuke that are worth reading, and I stumbled upon this one. If you enjoy peculiar stories with intriguing ideas, then you should definitely give it a shot. Here's my straightforward review.

    [Story - 8]

World Embryo features a captivating narrative filled with various events. The emergence of Kanshu (demons), Jinki users, the organization they work for, an embryo from which a little girl is born, and the protagonist who receives a message on his cellphone from his deceased relative—all these elements are intricately connected. However, the story throws in unexpected twists that keep it engaging. From the start, Riku gets a picture on his phone from his dead sister Amane, standing in front of a hospital. Investigating leads to an attack by Kanshu—mysterious beings transformed from humans after hearing strange cellphone sounds. Saved by old friends Youhei and Rena, Riku finds a strange embryo. The next day, he only remembers the embryo, which he starts nurturing. Eventually, Neene is born from the embryo, and Riku begins recalling everything. They soon face another attack, and due to severe wounds, Neene saves him by turning him into a Kanshu while retaining his mind. But many more things happen as nothing remains normal again. *I'll leave the rest for you to discover*.

    [Art - 9]

Daisuke Moriyama showcases his artistic talent in this manga. It’s highly detailed, both in characters and backgrounds. Some scenes, especially the colored pages, left me impressed. Characters are well-drawn, maintaining a similar style to his previous works. Battle scenes are depicted clearly, making them easy to follow, and the use of blood adds realism. I personally appreciate bloody manga as it enhances the authenticity rather than questioning if a character is even human.

    [Character - 8]

The characters are impressive with strong connections and distinct personalities. However, I gave it an 8 because their backstories are hinted at rather than fully explored. *[Update: Their pasts are gradually revealed in an interesting manner]*. The protagonist, Riku Amami, excels at lying, adding intrigue to the story as it helps him escape difficult situations. Yet, lies can lead to harm, a lesson Riku learns the hard way. His deep bond with Neene makes him protective, ready to do anything to protect her, sometimes obsessively. His complex character is what I loved—he isn’t purely good or bad, using any means necessary to safeguard himself and his loved ones.

Neene, born from the embryo resembling Riku's deceased relative, isn't human, evident from her ears. She calls Riku "Papa" and Rena "Mama," which is adorable. She grows faster than humans, resembling Riku’s relative more closely over time. As she matures, she becomes protective, smarter, and develops a caring, funny personality. She dislikes fights, especially those involving her parents.

Rena is usually quiet and serious, focused on doing her job correctly but kind-hearted. Initially rarely smiling, meeting Neene and Riku changes her, making her more open and friendly.

Overall, the characters in this manga can surprise you.

    [Enjoyment - 9]

The combination of the story, characters, action scenes, and everything else made this manga highly enjoyable, keeping readers hooked and eager for more.

    [Overall - 9]

This manga deserves more recognition and would be even better adapted into an anime. Such an adaptation would make fans, including myself, very happy. I strongly recommend reading it. Enjoy!

Very good manga. One of the best I have read so far and probably will be for quite some time. I have been eagerly awaiting each chapter's release, and once it comes out, I can't wait to dive into the next one immediately. (I even check every week just to make sure)

I hope others will give it a read and that you'll watch the anime once it's released too.

The characters can be annoying at times but quickly become endearing again. The art in this manga is excellent, at least from my perspective. The blood graphics are among the best I've ever seen and offer a great way to learn about various effects related to blood and similar themes.

The story may not make much sense at the beginning, but as you progress, everything becomes clear, revealing the intricate world surrounding the characters. Each chapter leaves me on the edge of my seat. The wait for the next chapter feels agonizing as I'm eager to continue the story and find out what happens next.

I highly recommend it to anyone out there.

I only recently began reading this manga (I've never watched it) and I've already finished all the published chapters. Now, I'm eagerly awaiting new ones. I won't reveal any spoilers because that might spoil your enjoyment. I genuinely enjoy this manga. The artwork is superb and almost flawless, and the story is incredibly captivating. I have never come across a manga as emotionally heavy as this one.

This manga is filled with sadness, despair, lies, distrust, suspicions, unfairness in life, and more. However, it's these sad elements that make the manga so remarkable. Although the actual storyline isn't realistic, the situations mirror real-life scenarios closely. When some of the characters died, I truly shed tears. I must admit, this manga is both awesome and heart-wrenching at the same time! Some characters are easy to connect with, and you'll find yourself deeply invested in their fates.

The character development is outstanding, and Nenee adds an extra layer of intrigue to the story! This manga is definitely worth checking out!

If you appreciate the work of Daisuke Moriyama, you will likely enjoy reading "World Embryo." Many readers argue that "Chrono Crusade" (another story by this author) is superior. Personally, I enjoyed "Chrono," but I felt it lacked depth in its narrative, possibly because the author was forced to wrap it up quickly or intended to conclude it that way. In contrast, "World Embryo" maintains an exceptional balance, making us realize that even the smallest details from the initial chapters tie into the overarching plot, suggesting that the author had meticulously planned everything from the start (much like "One Piece" XD). The story progresses slowly at first, but this pacing does not detract from the reading experience; rather, it transitions from a standard seinen manga to a well-crafted piece with a somber tone that compels you to read until the end. The characters are well-developed, leaving no room for doubt. You always encounter something new while trying to decipher the intentions of the antagonists, who are often not what they seem. The only drawback I can point out is that the last two chapters have yet to be translated into English and Spanish, although I anticipate they will be eventually (cough cough I read the raws cough). Unfortunately, there has been no anime adaptation, which is unsurprising given that the story would need significant reworking to be fully understood. Unlike typical Shonen stories with clear-cut subplots, "World Embryo" incorporates all elements seamlessly. Perhaps someday, a studio will recognize its potential for an anime adaptation—who knows? Anything can happen, as seen with cases like "Ushio to Tora." To sum up, this manga is a gem. It may not be the best in the world, but it's one of those stories that will keep you hooked chapter by chapter. So, what are you waiting for to start reading?

This manga has a knack for tugging at your heartstrings. There are hardly any truly evil characters; most of the cast harbors a somewhat tragic past, and the main characters endure an immense amount of pain and suffering—it's the typical formula. Fortunately for me, this typical content is penned remarkably well, barring the overly convoluted plot that loses its grounding towards the end, much like 80% of the battle manga I've read lately. This aspect keeps the manga at a score of 8 instead of a 9, but it concludes nicely in the end. No character feels underutilized, and I didn't find myself disliking the protagonist this time around, so I'm willing to overlook most of the flaws. The artwork is quite commendable as well.

I have to admit, this series isn't for those with a weak stomach, given the rather graphic art. However, it presents a very interesting and enjoyable story that keeps you engaged and eager for more. The artwork can be somewhat confusing at times – I'm unsure if it's due to the site or not. The characters are uniquely crafted; Daisuke Moriyama excels in this aspect. It's amusing how awkward Riku is portrayed. Neene comes across as very cute and endearing. In my opinion, this show ranks second only to Chrono Crusade, another masterpiece by Daisuke Moriyama. Overall, it’s an excellent manga. I hope someday someone will bring it to life as an anime because it truly deserves it. I strongly recommend it to fans of action-packed narratives with unique, intriguing plots.
