Shinya isn't known for his stellar grades, he's not athletic, he's seen as a coward, a wimp—essentially, he's considered a general good-for-nothing. One day, everything changes when he meets Haruna, a girl who could potentially alter the course of his life forever. Haruna reveals to Shinya that he is the Messiah, chosen by the Lord to save her world, and proclaims herself as his shield.
Could this revelation be true? Could Shinya's history of ineptitude serve as a balance for this one grand cause? Is it possible that he is truly the Messiah? If so, can he even save himself, let alone an entire world?

"Watashi no Messiah-sama" originally began its publication in Shounen Gangan from January 12, 2002, to March 12, 2004. The series then moved to GFantasy on September 18, 2004, under the new title "Watashi no Messiah-sama: Lacrima". Volumes 1-6 kept the original title, while volumes 7-13 adopted the subtitle and restarted the chapter count at zero.
In 2009, Kadokawa Shoten reprinted the series into six bunkoban volumes. This edition revised the order of the chapters and omitted the two one-shots but added the kakioroshi chapter titled "Kyou no Meshi 2009" in volumes 5 and 6.
