I agree that there will probably be some kind of twist here, but it would be great if this fight ends exactly as it appears. It's hard to relate to the... physics, I guess, of how all this insanely powerful shit is supposed to work, but it just feels to me like the forces these guys are playing with are so titanic- legendary magic items and the direct favor of literal gods- that it *ought* to lead to such sudden killing blows. Once you make an unrecoverable mistake, the forces your magic defenses were holding at bay are so strong that it's like a seafloor submarine implosion. Just BAM, you're done.
