Well, I first watched the Peach Girl series (Anime) and at the end, I found myself wondering about Sae and Touji's futures. Would she return to Kairi's brother? Or would she revert to her old ways of fooling around with random men? Or might Touji end up with Sae? My curiosity led me to research further, eventually uncovering Sae's story:
The story doesn't have a significant tie to the main "Peach Girl" title. It simply follows Sae's life after her friends graduated, as she had to go back to high school due to insufficient credits (mild spoiler). The title "Sae's Story" is quite literal; it's exactly what you'll find in the manga. While the story is decent, it falls short in romance, drama, and overall plot development.
Character-wise, we meet a new character named Sawatari Kanji, also known as "Saru" by Sae. His character development was somewhat predictable: childhood friend, familiar with Sae's past, a knight in shining armor, and childhood promises. There's nothing particularly unique about him, and his actions throughout the story are easy to foresee. As for other new characters, they're not worth mentioning since they're rather lackluster. Sae, on the other hand, continues to grow but remains the same naughty, vicious, and arrogant person we knew from before.
The art style is straightforward, clean, easily viewable, and readable. Characters are drawn well without any signs of rushing.
Overall, it was enjoyable while it lasted, though I wish there was more content. I crave more! :(
I recommend this manga to everyone who has finished reading or watching Peach Girl. If you initially despised Sae but grew to love her by the end, and if you're curious about what happens next, here's your next volume to read.
WARNING: IF YOU HAVEN'T READ OR WATCHED "PEACH GIRL," DO NOT READ THIS!!! Read the prequel first.
