Soul Rescue was published in English by Tokyopop from December 12, 2006, to April 10, 2007.

A fairly decent series for sure, it features a straightforward plot but was enjoyable to read. Unfortunately, Soul Rescue only consists of two volumes and has remained unfinished since 2002. It felt like just as the characters and storyline were becoming intriguing, the series concluded abruptly, which is quite disappointing. (I would have really enjoyed seeing how the two main characters, Renji and Kaito, develop further in their journey and how their relationships evolve, but I suppose that will never happen. :/)
Speaking of the characters, they are engaging, and the small adventures they embark on are fun. However, towards the end, things start to become somewhat predictable and boring.
It's not my favorite manga, but it was a commendable effort for Kanno's first series. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys simple fantasy stories such as this one.
The story's concept is acceptable, but its presentation feels overly simplistic and cloying. The artwork is decent, yet the characters lack depth and the narration is weak.
Overall, by the end, I felt it was not a worthwhile investment of my time. It was challenging for me to finish reading this manga.
Nevertheless, there might be an audience for this manga among those who enjoy fantasy tales with straightforward plots.
