Mahoujin Guruguru is a light-hearted show aimed at older children. It includes occasional toilet humor and some innuendo, which might surprise Western parents. The series parodies early role-playing games, particularly turn-based games like the Final Fantasy series. One of its comedy elements involves the narrator speaking in place of the dialog found in such games. Often, RPG-style information boxes are displayed on screen with accompanying narration in the traditional RPG style. The main characters, Nike and Kukuri, aim to defeat Giri, the ruler of darkness.
