I disagree heavily. The characters did what they needed to. If people were too stupid or failed to follow it was their fault not the writers if the intention was clear and opted for subtly rather than shoving it in your face.

I know the elf queen is a good person, but that ability is REALLY uncomfortable.

An ability that allows a "ruler" to quell free will... that is nightmare fuel.

I hope Ned lifts it after things calm down, I can see that Fade is a capricious guy but I don't think using such an ability permanently would gain much trust from him... if the ability doesn't fry his brain, that is.
